Also as evidently talk about google chrome decision to not support java is appropriate on this thread here are my thoughts:
1) You should always be playing on the client anyways. If you multitask and are doing something you could open a page with a billion gifs by mistake or tons of flash games or ect to kill time while skilling or between boss spawns and as a result your browser could lag or crash or something else and if that happens it is really helpful having rs be in client so it won't be brought down with your browser. Also if your browser gets compromised there is a chance the client won't be so you may stand a higher chance of avoiding a hack that way. Not to mention the client is the most compatible with rs being made for it and will probably have pre-optimized settings for playing rs. And lastly most computers with dual graphics cards set the crappy one to use the browser as browser based gaming is not as popular as playing a dedicated game and the majority of players don't want a lolcats video lowering their fps so this way you can add just the client to your high end graphics card approved program list and not waste resources boosting the fps of armorgames.com or something.
2) Good. Java is a security risk and it is archaic. Major browsers refusing to support it will hopefully kill it and move the web forward. Firefox currently has it set to "ask to run" by default (and has had it set that way for years #masterrace) but I straight up uninstalled it. Encouraging the use of better languages can only improve the quality of the web as a whole.
