That's a good idea, I originally had something similar in mind when I created the white list, but I was thinking of all URLs, not just images.

I'll need to work out some criteria that image hosts need to meet before they can be whitelisted. Most image hosts are fine, the private ones are the ones that I need to think about.

I'll definitely do something specifically for all embedded content.

Considering the possibility of a name change api. It's a little impractical but it's a possibility. To start looking up your name you would have to copy and paste the contents of that page into something to submit, or look up the contributor number. A name change api would be popular for some app makers and this is one of the easiest ways to set one up that can never be wrong (unless jagex changes how the contribution page works).
