removing the eoc update

EoC doesn't need removing, it needs refining . Jagex needs to take a good long look at what makes it unpopular and actually fix up those things and make the game more durable. They're so afraid of breaking something that they refuse to, for example, give different Barrows items different stats to diversify the items even though there are like 7 of them within the same tier, 5 of which are melee weapons.

They could easily add damage, accuracy, armor, damage absorb % and HP on the set pieces but they refuse to take a look at these things. Variety was (and is, on OSRS) a large part of what made pre-EoC combat so much fun.

Not everything has to be strictly 100% balanced and I really wish Jagex would learn this. TierScape is fine if the tiers are varied and malleable but everything in the game is so rigidly structured now that choosing which items you want to bring to which encounters is boring.
Do I want this T75 bow or this T80 bow?
Oh the number is higher?
Guess I'll opt for that one then and toss this T75 garbage in the trash.
-disassembles-
Whew, I was almost forced to make a choice for a second there.

I think the issue is that EoC has been "refined" since 2012 and still isn't really in an acceptable situation, it's no wonder they can't take in new players or that old ones hauled ass when it came out. It was broken on release, and it's still broken.

I seriously think that they need to halt everything and just work on getting it up to scratch personally.

Other games that have more advanced item crafting systems sell things like "pristine catalysts" that increase item stats or reduce the chance of failing a craft and wasting resources. Will be interesting to see if Jagex decides to lace the smithing overhaul with mtx or not.

I don't think there's anyone left at Jagex who understands how to develop a game.

I think its now just art students and market researchers. Updates do not come from actual knowledge of the game from the developer it comes from statistics and figures.

This came at such a shit time, we really need the bank rework right now. I'd rather they put off M&S. Unfinished business will remain unfinished when you devote 99% of the dev time to some grand update. There's probably months if not years of existing unfinished business beside m&s. Now we get to spend 3-4 quarters on fixing two (2 skills) of unfinished business. I can't be the only one who'd appreciate many many fixes of smaller things rather than wait forever for 1 big "fix".

I'm mad all the idiots voted no and now we aren't going to get shit for 6 months and when it finally comes out, it's going to ruin almost every aspect of the game we know today just because little cry babies wanted it to fit the tiers which they'll never even fucking use.

So...if they voted yes to high level content coming early, it wouldn't have ruined anything? By doing the update properly and doing it all at once, it's bad. By half-assing part of it now and never doing the other part, it'd be good. You must view Invention as the perfect update then.

It makes more sense to do the mining/smithing rework comprehensively, rather than piece-meal. Especially not starting with high-level mining/smithing first.

Where do mining and smithing need the most attention? At the lower levels that new players will work their way through. At those levels both skills are woefully unbalanced, and don't form the complimentary pair of skills that they are intended to be.

From steel and mithril that aren't worth low level players progressing through, to low level armor and weapons that take upto 99 smithing to make. Its not a good game experience.

For high levels, its peripheral content outside of core mining/smithing activities, that form the essence of skill levelling. Examples being (amongst others) the Arc Region, Seren Stones and Warbands.

Its the core skill content that needs attention, rather than throwing in what would amount to extra high level options. It needs reworking from the bottom-up, rather than top-down.

The entire mining and smithing update is a waste of time, but we didn't get the option to cancel it entirely so voting yes was the lesser of two evils. It meant we actually got content without sacrificing the rest of the game, and in a reasonable amount of time. Literally the only other thing voting no did was postpone it 6 months and now the entire game will be rebalanced to nobodies benefit. Stop being a dumbass and expecting more than what youre actually going to get, this is nothing like invention, it's not going to be done in batches its not going to have half the content missing, as i said you would have gotten literally all the same content in much less time.
\
What the fuck do you people think you're actually going to get?????????????? Please explain what you actually think the 'batches' would include lmfao.
The ONLY difference between the two votes was RE-TIERING, there's literally NO OTHER CONTENT.
