yeah I don't mean to slander aftershock, per se, and at the same time can't be terribly specific about why it won't work for me in multiple scenarios (cause I'm an inefficency expert that does a lot of weird solo things). the only example I can use, that we all kinda understand, is raids where it has happened to me dozens of times we call "slow dps" for sand yaka, but crackles and aftershocks come loose and kill him while a bunch of us still stuck in the sand, and since I base tank it means a whole bunch of panic eating, pray switching, etc, and I have still gone on to win a bunch of those very fights, but it cost me more than everyone else. and ofc go without sayin raids team buddies I aint gonna fuss at em they have to perk one or another. af3 is cool more often than not, but for players like... I wanna try... yeah man. do it up.

I built an attuned halberd with shield bash 3 hoarding other day, and then put 3500s with debilitate on lumbridge dummies set to max, and I think thats a little overlooked for good 2h options. y'know... cause like... bulwark and stuff wouldnt be doing much for you if using 2h, and why would you use 2h if you wanted boring equilbrium'ed damage? you kinda want lots of big shiny hits, right?

anyway thats why I got idea to try lunging 3 mobile, and I am failing hard even though it shouldn't break the cap for 5 ranks per gizmo. I can't even get lunge 3 undead slayer which should be way easier.

Lunge is 60% chance, kinda, to do 6k dmg with a basic every

kinda hard to say how much extra that'd be, but minimum is 400s so from 2400 to 6k can kinda maybe be called a 3600 increase?
Aftershock every 50k dmg comes roughly every
30
seconds for me.
get in the neighborhood of 3 to 4k with it. easier to see it working, for sure, but its also hella more expensive to try gambling around to try and get af3 w/ mobile. fury blades no big at less than 1m ea now.

Side question. So I made a tool gizmo with Rapid 3 + Cheapskate 3... which kind of bugs me. But does the cheapskate perk even have any effect on smithing or firemaking tools? Because its description says it downgrades

resources. Now since I am definitely not gathering anything with a hammer, can I get away with keeping it? (LOL)

Impromptu non-scientific testing: 300 steel maces smithed with Cheapskate 1 on hammer-tron

Assuming a proc rate of 1/100, there is a 95% chance of it happening at least once within 300 trials. Yet none of my maces turned from steel to iron. Therefore it is highly likely that the Cheapskate perk does NOT affect smithing.

This means that if you're going for Rapid 3, it's okay use 5x enhancing comps (rare) or 1x enhancing + 4x shifting, without fear of your gizmo being crippled by a negative perk.

Inb4 nerf....

Yes. You get the minimum hit of 100% weapon dmg about 40% of the time so I get the minimum hit of rolling 400s at worst. At best I break 1000 and I can do that without necessarily being in black hole, berserk, or gravitate buffs. I think thats intended, and that its supposed to balance out with aftershock, at about half the time I throw dismember, and the dismember cools off twice as fast as the af3 ticker, but be different in that it would only apply to one target not moving like... QBD, or w/e slay task monster. If you mean to move your enemy around, like Zilyana or ROTS, then aftershock would be better (for range/mage but not melee).

totally understandable if people still like af3 better because they can see it working. I get it.

I did, btw, switch that weapon perk back from lunging 2 to lunging 3 and move mobile back into my armour because I did feel it. I wasn't coming close to my 1000s anymore, and I seemed to be getting my good hits in the 700s. I notice ilujankan and avernic will give you that 3rd rank with just 4 components, but I can't get the third with something good like mobile, so maybe its meant for... idk... talking? glow worm? I would love to hear from somebody with any luck getting aftershock 3 and mobile, hoarding, or w/e good extra perk.

I made a second pair of torva pants in place where demon, dragon, undead slayer dont give me 7%, and I have crackling 3 for the 3% overall DPS boost next to a combo of shield bash 2 and invigorate 2. I am currently kinda playing around to see if I can get shield bash 3 with either invig 1 or hoarding again.

With the changes to the Tinker perk today:

The Tinker perk now has a 5% chance per rank to give +25% XP, as opposed to the previous 1% chance per rank to give +10% XP.

Which is better to use as a 2nd gizmo for firemaking? Rapid 3 or Tinker 3? I'm not entirely sure but it seems like Rapid 3 would give better pet chances due to more actions per hour, while Tinker 3 would be slightly better for overall xp/hr. Would anyone like to do the math for me please? :/

(My ideal combination would be Pyromaniac 5 + Rapid 2 | Tinker 3 on tinderbox with either Wise 3 offhand or the combined catalyst fragment. But after sinking my entire stash of light components, I know that's super rare and unlikely to happen.)

I would just get pyro/tinker. If you can get rapid with pyro, that's a bonus. But, saving a tick or two every inventory barely makes a difference in my opinion, even if it means more pyro activations over a certain amount of time..

Smithing on the other hand doesn't have pyro, so you can go for both rapid and tinker. Just remember you might have to settle with rapid 2, 3 is probably rarer than scavenging.
