I think it would be a good idea if you guys find a way to make it work without it adding a lot of lag to the game. However, I think there are already plenty of free voice chat services out there that people already use. I know for me as soon as I turn on my computer Skype starts up right away so having a voice chat in game really doesn't add that much convenience for me.
I like how you guys are trying to add more stuff for clans which has been needed in RS for a while, but people who already use skype/vent/ts haven't had a problem using it in the past and most will probably continue to use them even if a voice chat was added to the game.
My suggestion would be hold off on the voice chat for a while and start finishing up some of the other clan related stuff you guys have been mentioning for months now. Instead of adding more and more to your plate you should just finish what you guys are already working on. Thats just my suggestion though. :)

i use skype, and use to use ventrilo
you cant compete with these, as they voice chat based, trying to beat them wont work.
plus i want to talk to people i want 2. i dont want to talk to randomers as most of em are rude.
dont attempt it, your only going to fail like always.

I agree , jagex having thier own voice chat would fail , from the lag to the extremely rude and immature children that play this game . you as jagex should concentrate on the issues u have already in need of fixing b4 u move on to another debauchery . this is not a rant or in any way a negative post towards jagex or this game . as stated there are too many free voice chat options out there why even consider fouling up ur servers with that crap. the game is so laggy and sketchy as it is ( i use an extreme gaming computer with the fastest internet in canada so i blame u as i game alot of online games and the lag i receive from runescape is uncomparable )Please dont bring your own voice chat and slow urselves even more , Please fix issues at hand which have been around for a long long time instead of band aid fixing then throwing a distraction or diversion out such as voice chat to make ppl think u are really moving forward. love the game , i use skype , its free and voice chat is extremely nice to have for pvm, pvp, and dungeoneering .

not usually the one to use outside software when playing, I can certainly see the benefits of such mechanism installed inside RS. I would very certainly love to have the option of using it, and would love the opportunity to, for the first time, hear the voice of a friend from overseas I have been conversing with for some time now.
In short, my vote is YES, please!

I agree, having a voice chat in Runescape will be fantastic. It would be a lot easier to communicate with your friends when your at a boss. A bad thing maybe that it will cause the game to lag. Hopefully if you, Jagex, do this update you won't raise the price to play the game.
