Sounds like a great idea to me, of course it comes with its pros and cons.
This system would be great for having better communication between players than having to quickly type out things. ex. trying to type to have help while being killed by an enemy player in a minigame
Unless servers are updated, this voice chat could cause extra lagg, as many others have said before me.
A major problem with this would be having everyone just chat in "Public chat." This would be major problems in large minigames (ex. Soul Wars, Castle Wars) or in high population areas (Grand Exchange, etc.)
It can get pretty loud with 8 people in an Xbox LIVE party, let alone hundreds of players in the Grand Exchange, or having tens of players all yelling at each other in a large minigame.
The clan chat could be modified to counteract this problem. This may make the possible update itself even more hefty, but it's better than having to make the changes later. PLayers could have the ability to switch their clan chat between the settings of "Voice chat and Text, Text Only, or Mute" This would allow certain players control their clan chat how they prefer.
When "Voice chat and Text" is enabled players will be asked how many players will be allowed in the clan chat. The number will be between 1 and 20 and can be changed at any point. I think the current max limit is 100 people (correct me if I'm wrong) and that would be a ridiculous number of coversations.
Text would be available in all areas still due to the fact that some families cannot afford a microphone because of their budget.
Other ideas....
The current clan chat people limit could be continued, but there could be settings such as voice chating with friends only. Parents who are concerned about their children's safety could have it set so that their child can NEVER voice chat.
Running out of space so that's all for now.
