I use it when i go godwars or dagannoth kings with a team. its easier to communicate through the headsets with ur team while fighting these boss monsters than to sit there and type so we use skype to talk through headsets =)

It doesn't say that they're going to make a voice chat in Runescape but it's pretty obvious they're going to. I personally don't use voice chat on Runescape but it'd be pretty cool if there was one to use in-game.

First up, every time I clicked the link from the homepage to come here I would be logged off.
Now to the Voice Chat.
I can't believe it has taken this many years since the game has been about for this topic to start as a poll and then be open for discussion. It's about time.
I have actively used any method to chat to friends and clans that didn't involve the horrible single line chat that this game offers. If it's not Via Windows Messenger, it's Via Skype or Ventillo when using voice chats or more commonly *** channels with Swiftkit.
Since we now have a more relaxed Chat Filter it is a good time for the game to advance up in technology for communications since the content of the chat is a lot more free. But there will be still great concirns about scammers, account stealers, and people praying on our children. As hard as it can be for a Parent to supervise their kids 24/7 there still needs to be something there for parents to take contol.
One part of the poll made me think there will be a charge to the voice chat if Jagex take this path, I hope there will not be and costs, as it is now the options I use are free, but to get to the point of chatting to friends which i have met with-in the game I admit to having to get around the chat filter (of old) to get the chat started. Lets hope there is a easy way to initate a voice chat with someone new.
So bring on the Voice Chat, it's about bloody time this game worked on the crippling chat interface to make it better for us all, the more options we have in anything the less we need to stray away from the tools provided to us and lean towards 3rd party software that can leave us open to hackers and account stealers.
I am looking farward to this Voice Chat having some priority in very near future.

Hola,
In all honesty, I'm mildly concerned about this update. I wouldn't like to form an official opinion on all of this until more specific information is released.
My main concern will be the report features. Will voice records of conversations be kept in case anything in breach of the rules is said? My second concern is how this will work. Will anyone with a headset and their option turned to 'on' be able to randomly shout in-game, or will we have to party up like on most platform games?

I myself have never used voice chat but if Runescape got it, it would be easier to chat and talk to people in clans and around the worlds. Thanks for the poll! Runescape would be better with chat. Might I also reccomend making movement easier. Instead of clicking everywhere, why not just use the arrow keys? I think it would be a more simple way of controlling your character.

Runescape game content is wonderful, a never ending story, clearly there are some decent and caring players. Runescape already has a keyboard based chat which is abused, this abuse can be minor scams or serious, you should avoid content that could make players whole experience psychologically damaging or unpleasant.

There are a lot of unpleasant experiences to be had out there, this can only be made worse by voice chat, being insulted or that sort of thing by text is not as alarming as trading insults back and forth and yelling at each other in a voice chat. It's one thing if you're used to it and a mature player who can ignore discriminatory, bullying and threatening behaviour. When you've got new players you really want their first online experience to be a pleasant one.

You have rules to ensure the safety of all your players and say you will not tolerate disruptive players. One of those rules relating to privacy and safety suggests that you must not ask for personal details and instant messanger handles. It's sensible to keep a safe distance from people you only know online, obviously a large proportion of the community contact each other outside the game and this is not your responsibility to control.
Everyone should remember to keep safe in-game and play responsibly.
Parents of children who play Runescape may have concern and not knowingly be aware of what you are considering but you have to be a responsible developer as you are trusted by them. Parent's are responsible for what software is installed on a child's computer and they should really decide if they want a voice chat. The Runescape community is getting older and they will also make their own choices.
Your recent updates may have only worsened the abuse and for those vunerable or inexperienced players. Just because voice chat is popular that doesnt mean Runescape needs one. Make changes that keep Runescape enjoyable for everyone.

In the past I have used Voice Chat servers but find that the people on there are not very chatty/reasonable, but to see it introduced to RuneScape would be very unique, I suggest that if Jagex did think of bringing it into the game, they should create a Voice Chat channel which could be accessed by the Clan Chat section which could have upto a maximum of 8 people, like the Xbox 360.

I would think it would be awesome if it was integrated directly into the game instead of people having to have seperate things running. For clan chat or to "call" one of your friends. You could right click and it say like call "Friends name". Then it would ring or come up and tell them you are calling. Would be cool. Or you could set it up to be used as group chat for clans. That might be complicated for bigger clans because if everybody talked at once in clans that had a bunch of people it would be bad. I would think this would be a cool feature as long as it didnt cause the game to run slow or hurt the gameplay in any way.
