We use Vent.
My Co Founder pays for it, he use to pay for it while we were in Elite Warriors.
We left and made our own clan. It's not mandatory that new members use it, however it does make things a lot less complicated if they do.
For instance a few minutes ago we were all doing penguins well not all LOL. My event leader who was in Vent along with me had to type into the cc the locations we were going next. It would have been easier if we were all in vent and only had to speak the different locations.
Its a fun time in Vent. We can be I feel more open and frank with each other than we could in cc. It's a lot easier to speak, one person hears another person speaking your quiet as for cc you have multiple conversations going on at once, it gets rather cumbersome at times.
In vent persons caring on a conversation can simple move channels and carry on the convo easily.

Our vent is protected by a pass, so no unauthorized players/persons can join.
I manually add them and give them their own pass to optain access to our vent.
We don't give access to pathams, any bindings or waves. We basically give them access to vent the ability to move channels, I have assigned individual channels to members. Cuz I'm nice rofl.

Great idea IMO, as long as it isn't limited to like 5people per lobby because that'd just be like a crappy Skype.
