I've used all kinds of voice chats over the last 3 years.

Other games I've used it for:
Xbox Live
World of Weirdos (WOW)
Just general chat - All of which, alot of the people I used it with known my real name. (Because I prefer it that way) - I have no problem with people knowing my real name either, since it's normally just a select few friends.
Hosted my own Ventrillo server during my time playing WoW - Decided to take that down since I quit though.
So now, I just use skype, and teamspeak for my old friends.

Ive been waiting for this type of update for years..I personally have been using skype with friends and fellow clan members. This feature really helps us communicate at a faster pace without having to remove our hands from the mouse. especially in the wilderness when we are trying to pk other players..

I've used VOIP on many occasions on RS as a means of communicating with RS friends and Clan Mates for a number of months now. It's been beneficial in coordinating events, where it's easier to just talk rather than type messages. Whether it be in a Boss fight at God Wars Dungeon or fighting Tormented Demons, or organizing friends at a Dungeoneering event. It also allows for friends to respond quicker to a situation, or an unfortunate death or immediate need. Though it would be nice to have such a communication tool available I've found that I've been unable to use both VOIP and Runescape at the same time, as the lag makes it nearly impossible which forces me to run VOIP on a separate computer. If the developers at Jagex could find a way of making the two systems run seamlessly with out lag that would be fantastic. The only other concern I would have is the potential for improper communication, as I have witnessed players being propositioned by very unsavory individuals playing the game. I'm not sure what could be done about that potential situation.
Other than that, sounds like a great idea. ^_^

Although i have used voice chat over runescape, I wouldnt recommend putting it into the game itself,
I would however, Support a campaign to add this function to Clanchat. (that way i dont have to hear anybody i dont want to)

Reasons for cc only -
- No random kids screaming,
- No Inappropriate language, (racism ect)
- Easy to report rule breakers
- NOBODY SHOUTING "TRIMMING ARMOUR" or "flower game 10x"
