yes, when playing me and my friends go onto xbox live party chat when doing clan wars, or something else, it's easier to talk to everyone than all the typing, because if someones talking to you while your doing jad, it's a big distraction people typing to you and you feeling the need to type back and leave your invintory or prayer selector just to talk, unless you use tab

Jagex.....Focus on fixing what you have before adding anything new.
I personaley think voice chat would be a complete waste, if people want to use voice chat they should just use another program.
Not to mention that in order to confinscate for the GREATLY increased cost to run the new servers you will have to raise membership price for a 2ND time. You got members back by bringing back the wild but if you raise membership cost again you will once again lose them.

so everyone likes using some type of voice communication when playing games. When on their Xboxes and PS3's they use the voice chat bilt into the system and its games. When playing DDO and other rpgs they use Vchatting too...but they cant in Runescape. Using 3rd party software or cellphones is nice, but then eventually, the costs of doing so would add up.so how can we fix that? Add Vchatting!
heres some issues that might come up though:
-cursing/no filters
-really bad lagg
-hearing poeple you dont want to hear
So heres how to fix those problems:
- as said before by you guys, this game isnt really directed towards young children, but more towards teens and adults. so there shouldnt have to be a filter. and you guys just added the option to disable the filter in textchat (which TONS of people have done). simply put, if you dont want to hear it, put the sound off or dont listen. PLAY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
-really bad lag would be really bad. imagine how terrible it would be to just stand in the ge! well, make it so Vchatting doesnt work in regular chat...you would have to be in a vchatting room with specific people which leads to:
-hearing people you dont want to. these chat rooms could be clan chats, friend chats,or when trading. that way, you could hear your friends and teammates, instead of spammers.our you could set a private chat with someone (with their consent)/multiple people without them having to be in your clan or friends list. simply request to add them to your chat group and there you go...i noticed an empty icon space on the icon list...maybe this Vchat group one could fill it in? This also fixes the lagg issue because that means there wouldnt be 500 pple talking at once. simply join a clan chat or talk with a friend and there you go!
so jagex, hopefully there arent really any oner problems. lets see to it that you go ahead and add Vchatting!

i'd wondered where the polls had gone. they don't seem to stand out as well as they used to with the "latest poll" button
i saw polls and thought it was a help page about polls rather than voting in polls, but then i usually use the menus, not the right hand side buttons.
i hadn't seen the polls in the community menu and wondered where they had gone.
voice chat with modulation seems like a good idea.
i don't know how far voice recognition has come, but if you could convert to text, then back to voice, anonymising the voice would be easier, as would translation between languages if you wanted to take the extra step to let people speaking different languages talk to each other.
i'm assuming that quick chat already appears correctly to people set up for other languages, but that's really just a guess.
if you could anonymise voice using this technique, and add context by adding tone of voice as well, you would be in a position to produce the worlds most popular and widely selling translation software, and have the chance to work out the bugs in a non-critical (game) environment.
this would be like making robot toys before making robot servants because toys and games are expected to not work properly sometimes.

Potentialy good addition but is it so needed? As far as i know not all people here use voice chats. But thats not the issue. I'm more worried about the way it will be used. New scams and abuses on the horizont. Moreover, those people that needed voice chat already use existing proper free software. Why waste the time on development when there are way many things to be fixed asap?

I think voice chat would be a cool feature, but only as an option and perhaps only to people on your friends list or in clan chat. I think if you go into world 117 looking for a dung team and you hear hundreds of people voice chatting, you couldn't get anywhere, but I think it would make dungeoneering much more enjoyable if you could talk to your party mates in voice chat instead of just typing, it would defiantly make the floors run more smoothly. Having said that, I have never used a voice chat system like Skype before and I have no idea how it should work. I think that if Runescape will have voice chat that it should be made an option so that people who don't have the funds or the equipment will not be left behind. It seems like Runescape is becoming more like WOW over the years, and voice chat I think is a very beneficial aspect of modern gaming that Runescape needs.
