Hello,
I myself run a clan, called of course, Adorn. An update such as this would have such a great, and positive impact on both us as a clan, and on the community itself.
We have had issues before, where clan members have been reluctant to add others on sites such as instant messaging services.
Having one on Runescape, would be absolutely amazing, as there wouldn't be any trust issues, and the play is ensured a safe, fun environment.
Being able to talk via voice chat would also make a lot of things easier, i agree having a full clan at once on one voicechat would get a bit crowded, and hectic, but on events such as GWD, or Pking, or anything where a group is working together, voice chat would make it a much more efficient process.
Even if the voice chat was made as a pay to use feature, i'd definatly pay for my clan to be able to use it, no matter the cost, (within reason, don't go crazy now :P ).

I hope my input has helped,
Adorn x

I posted this a few months ago on RSC, might as well copy and paste it here:
Yes they should, and yeah I might pay for it (if it fits the the criteria below (i.e. will replace need for TS3/Vent)), but it needs to have the following features for it to work:
If you want it to be clan's main form of communication, and to take TS3's market (and as such have it as a paid extra):
Bear in mind that if you did all of this and were actually successful in completely replacing TS3/Vent, you could earn yourselves a tidy profit, so it would be worth the extra effort. You'd be suprised how much top clans spend on things such as TS3 Hosting per month.
- BE AN EXTERNAL INTERFACE - I.E. A COMPLETELY SEPARATE CLIENT - PLEASE DON'T TRY AND SQUEEZE IT INTO THE TINY RUNESCAPE INTERFACE! (OR AT LEAST THE ADMINISTRATIVE PART (Could be on RS Site))!
- Have customisable icons for the ranks - If necessary because of 'children', have the icons validated by p-mods or something before allowed to be implimented.
- HAVE CUSTOMISABLE PERMISSION SETS - i.e. Take a good long look at how TeamSpeak 3 permissions work, and have something very similar to this. None of this clan chat general/captain rubbish because those permission sets are truly as good as cosmetic.
- Have customisable rooms - Please don't just make one big room for people to talk in, clans with large amounts of people all don't want to talk in the same room. There's often like 4-5 channels running at once on TS3 servers as a main active channel, as well as several channels with private conversations/afk'ers.
- You'll need to have the ability to ban AND UNBAN specific members (I'd assume via RS Names, although obviously on TS3 clans have the ability to view & ban IPs).
- Ability for the 'Server Admins' to be able to move people/mute the channel/set it so only certain ranks can talk etc
- Members could connect to it via the RS Client, whilst administrators administrate from a separate web page / client
Continued in next post..

If you were to want it to just be a form of reliable communication for clans during incredibly important events, but not their general talking activities (i.e. TS3/Vent Would still be the main form of communication, but clans might use the RS version sometimes (They would not pay for it)
- Could just be 1 channel on the 'server'
- Normal cc ranks - Ability to grant voice when channel is muted to non-Server Admin's
- Could be administrated within the RS Client Window with the basic cc-style administration
- Need to be able to ban/kick from the 'server'.
^ All I can think of right now...
Ignore me or listen :P Doesn't matter, will be decent to see what you come up with and I hope that it turns out to be made to good quality :)

Waste of development time!
If people want to use voice communication methods, there are tons of them free to use. There is no need to have it on a game. Besides the fact that this would open even more unmoderated doorways for potential scamming and other 'scary internet things'.
Not really a good idea, not a bad idea either. I myself use voice chat for Dungeoneering only - but I prefer to use an offsite program.
I also see this potentially hurting a few communities in a sense that voice chat would be a requirement to be a part of x or y. Not everyone wishes to use voice chat.
I think game engine can spend time fixing up other important things instead of stuff like "voice chat" when the technology exists elsewhere...

well i know my clan personally uses vent. and we all love it and the idea of jagex starting a voice chat. true other voice chats are out there but i think some people are hesitant to dl other software and would use a product by jagex more willinging. i think that the voice chat would be best if contained to cc use only not in the general chat which im sure is what they had in mind. i just started using vent about two months ago and it is extremely helpfull, from clan events where typing isnt easy i.e. killing nex to just general conversation. i look forward to hearing more about this and hopefully seeing it implemented...also ik this isnt the suggestions forum but i think the best way to do billing if it is a feature you have to pay for is when upgrading your account to a member having an option for voice chat or not which can be changed later, simply adding to the cost of your membership. great idea jagex it would be extremely helpfull

Personally, I don't think this would be a very wise idea. Profanity and vulgarism was already bad before the option to turn the chat filter on or off was put in place. When the option to toggle the filter was implemented, it got worse. If the voice chat system does infact get implemented into the game, it's only going to get even worse.

Personally, this is the kind of steps Jagex should be making in terms of updates that would benefit the greater good of the Runescape community. Voice chatting is such a better way to connect with other players than simply through text. When you hear the other persons voice instead of simply reading their bland text, it makes the players in this game seem more real.
The one thing that Runescape has always lacked is the human element of interacting with other players. You know that they are players, and you know that somewhere in the world they are doing exactly what you are doing, which is sitting in front of their computer, but its just hard to grasp that concept when they communicate in the same style that NPC's can connect. Voice chat just makes everything you do with other players more meaningful than reading dark yellow text pop up above their animated heads. So many other players go through different 3rd party software to do this (including me), and the option of a direct service for voice chatting can open up a whole new world to those who have never thought about using Skype or ventrillo or whatever all those other services are.
I do support this 100% for two main reasons
1) If there is a in-game option for voice chat, that add's another level of security to those who do use voice chatting in the first place. Many outside sources people use to chat can easily be used as a platform to gain other peoples pass's. If there was a in-game service for voice chat, that would definitely help people connect with other people while not having to worry about the other player using some kind of trickery and stealth to gain their information without them knowing.
2) As i said before this will open up a new world to those who do not use outside services to interact with other players through 3rd party voice chat software. The casual player that knows nothing about computers can now talk communicate with his friends with his words, not text.
Reached text limit, VC +1

I don't think this is a good idea, because with a voice-chat hosted by RuneScape, people would feel pressured into using this program by their friends, clanmates, etc, even more so than now. I know that a lot of people would rather not do this, and although its an option, would feel more pressured than using an alternative program, like Ventrilo. It also is a waste of development time to do this, we can easily use Ventrilo and want actual content.

i think this would be interesting.i have one of the voice things from google and use it sometimes. maybe if you add it just for making text(not talking personaly to people) like say the words and they come on here.this wouldnot interfere with more internet scmming, maybe another way to mod since there is a server used by probly 1/100 of the runescape members.but you can keep thedoor closable, anyways, this would be helpfull because when i was a "nube" this would be very helpfull whn there was alot of clicking because i cant type and click at the same time. :)
