There really weren't that many problems with the game the way it used to be. The biggest issues were scamming and RWT. My opionion, if you get scammed then that's your fault. Report the person and then don't let it happen again.
So basically if Jagex feels they can handle bots and RWT then I say there is no reason not to put things back to the way they were initially intended.

Personally, there should be an option to where you can choose either Just bring back free trade, Just brining back the Wilderness, both, neither of them, or don't mind. This might help because the people who I knew that voted 'YES' on the vote, only voted 'YES' because they just wanted the free trade back. Also if you bring back the Wilderness, this might cause a problem to runecrafters who might use the 'Mysterious Ruins' to access the Chaos Altar, as they might get killed in the processes.

This reminds me of the old days. When I was just a young fledgling scaper I was scammed into entering the wild where another player was waiting for me. A tag team duo of mage and ranger. You know what I did, I killed them both because the noobs forgot you need food to win an even matched fight.
Good times, good times. :)
2nd and last time I ever got scammed in an MMO, two high levels tricked me into going on a test in a mole hole without a candle to find my way out of the mole hole in fally. I died. They looted me. I learned not to be stupid.
Did I go whine to Jagex about the scam? No, I reported them of course but I wasn't about to ask for the stuff I lost by my own damn stupidity.
Learn from your mistakes or keep suffering from the for the rest of your life.

Living Rival, I don't plan to PK at all either and I'm lvl 113 or so. However I am fully supportive of the free trade and the economic benefits of bringing the wild back. Furthermore it brings my friends back.

Someone tried to lure me once by showing me 10m then going into the wildy where their friend was waiting to pk me. Funny thing is someone else happened to come along and kill them both so they lost the 10m lol

I don't have time nor do I need to give you a link to anything. That post is buried under piles and piles of other post in over 1000 pages. I'm not going to waste all that time sifting through those posts just so I can prove a point on something that in the end is not even going to matter.
