I Tend to kill the Barrows brothers in the order of which requires more prayer.
1st: Dharoks (He hits harder the lower his health gets so prayer is a must)
2nd: Ahrims (I usually kill him 2nd because his magic can lower your stats)
3rd: Karils (I often find it easier to get him out the way as he can hit quite frequently)
4th: Verac (He hits through Armours & Prayers, so if you have any prayer left use last bit on him)
5th: Akrisae (Requires a Quest)
6th: Torags
7th: Guthans
Also if I get Dharoks in the crypt I obviously kill all the barrows in their tombs first.

For maxed melee or near maxed players with access to extremes, turmoil and chaotics, melee can be just as fast, if not faster than magic.
I personally prefer chaotic longsword and/or maul over rapier, and use dragon claws for spec.
To speed things up even more, try using void, special restores and overloads.
PS: Strawberry baskets are delicious (and heal as much as Sara brews)

Do branches of darkmeyer quest for drakens medalian and what i do is kill dharok first then ahrim the karil which drains most if not all my prayer and then i do guthan or torag then verac(remeber to bring some food for verac). Using this method I don't use any prayer but i always bring some prayer pots just incase i get a brother that needs to be prayed against in the tunnel. I use melee when using that method. You can use mage if you want.

As a pretty low levelled player in comparison to a large majority of the people doing barrows I recommend prayer methods. I complete one trip with roughly 2-3 prayer pots. A holy wrench is really benifical in the long run it has the ability to save you a bit of money which is always good. Also prayer auras like reverance, just helps that little bit more.
I also use a pretty basic setup, Slayer darts are great, even just with a slayer staff its affordable and you should make back what you spend each run.
As well as this I just use proselyte, its cheap gives a nice prayer bonus and pretty good defence. Which is always nice against Verac.
I also have no worries if i die about losing a fortune... hasnt happened yet though :)

How I made my first 50M at barrows:
Ice burst, using a sol. You can easily safe spot the barrow brothers with minimal prayer/food using this method, and therefore achieve a greater kills per hour/loot chance.

(melee if 95+ attack/str/chaotic) (korsai spec weapon or claws is a must) (borrow if you have to)

first off, completing in aid of the myreque can help, as it unlocks easy access to a bank and some low healing food (from the general store).
Secondly, bring friends! in an area with a bank, give your friends an inventory of the suppliesyou're using. then, have them follow to the barrows, even into the tombs. when you defeat one brother, trade with a friend and refill your inventory.
P.s. it helps if at least one friend has completed in aid of the myreque, for the bank.
