Here are some tips from a Barrows Veteran:
- Wear high-defense melee gear for everything. Items such as melee barrows armor, bandos, or even just rune will work. If you have a slot open for a shield, an obsidian shield or dragonfire shield is optimal.
- Use melee for Ahrim and Karil. You can use slayer dart or a salamander (more accurate, but you can't use a shield and it uses tars) for efficient killing of the melee barrow brothers. Slayer dart is best because you can use a shield and you get death and mind runes as loot.
- If you have 75 or more prayer, kill the brothers in this order: Karil, Ahrims, Dhorak, Guthan, Torag, and Verac. The reason Ahrims is after Karil is because Ahrims can lower your melee stats even through prayer and after Ahrim, you use mage. With over 70 prayer, you should have enough prayer points left to safely kill Dhorak after. If you have prayer points left after Dhorak, Guthan hits more accurate and should be killed before Torag. Kill Verac last because prayer is useless for killing him.
- If you have less than 75 prayer, kill the brothers in this order: Dhorak, Ahrim, Karil, Guthan, Torag, Verac.
- You can, when you enter the tunnels, walk over to a certain corner and hover your mouse over 3 of the 4 doors to the main chamber to deterime which is the right one. If none of the 3 doors are it, the one out of sight is.
- I always kill 6 crypt creatures before looting the chest, however, if you use slayer dart, you get more death and mind runes if you don't kill crypt creatures.
- Always pack a prayer potion in case you get Dhorak or Ahrim inside the tunnels.
- Doing Branches of Darkmeyer for the pendant makes getting to barrows or to a bank quicker and easier. You can even renew prayer in Darkmeyer, but remember to have the vyrewatch disguise.
- Prayer drains inside tunnels and crypts, so drink prayer potions only when you absolutely must.
- Always wear a ring of wealth.
- Be kind and bless graves.
