You definitely want to bring a ring of wealth, and I would also suggest wearing Initiate or Proselyte so that your prayer lasts as long as possible.
Also if your using melee bring a super attack potion, which makes it easier to hit the brothers with high defense.

Go to Torag the Corruped's crypt now (the south west burial mound). Turn on quick prayer and cast magic dart on Torag the Corrupted until he dies. As soon as you defeat a barrows brother leave via the stairs or Draken's Medallion as soon as possible as the longer you are down there the more prayer you lose. (Turn off prayers as you run to the stairs)
If you have not found the tunnel yet setup your Quick prayers to Deflect / protection from Range
Then drink a dose of Special Recovery Potion then a dose of Prayer Renewal. If your Healing Item is Saradomin God Sword or Saradomin God Bow equip it now. If it is Enhanced Excalibur (elite) then use the special attack now. Enter Karil the Tainted's crypt (the central south burial mound). Then enter the tunnel. Find the puzzle door (one of the four central doors). If Karil Attacks when you open a door turn on quick prayers instantly then drink a dose of prayer potion. If you are using a Saradomin healing item use the special attack then switch to a primary weapon and finish off Karil the Tainted. Once you find the central door answer the puzzle. If a monster is attacking you while you try to answer it run to the opposite wall (the wall with no door) and wait for the creature to attack you. Right after it attacks you run to the door and answer the puzzle. If that does not work stand next to the door kill the monster then complete the puzzle. If you answer the puzzle wrong the puzzle door will move and you must relocate it and answer it correctly. Once answered correctly go into the chest room and kill any and all monsters in that room (do not be rude and leave an aggressive monster in there for someone else to deal with). If you have not found Karil the Tainted yet keep opening and closing the chest (DO NOT SEARCH IT) until Karil the Tainted shows up. Kill Karil the Tainted as mentioned previously.

*Optional* Keep going back and forth in the door between the puzzle door and the chest room to spawn monsters and build your kill count up to 10 or higher (I tend to get more barrows item rewards with a 10+ kill count). Equip your Ring of Wealth and Search the Chest. After you search the chest, either run out escaping with the rope or teleport out with your teleportation item.
If you have found the tunnel already setup your Quick prayers to Deflect / protection from Range and Turmoil / Piety / Leach Special, Leach Defence, Leach Attack / Chivalry / Ultimate Strength improved reflexes. Then drink a dose of Special Recovery Potion Drink an Extreme Attack Potion (4) and an Extreme Strength Potion (4) and switch your staff of light to your Dragon Dagger (p++) / Dragon Claws (dagger being better then claws).
If you have Arcane Stream Necklace Equipped swap it out for your fury or glory and if you have ring of vigor put that on. Go Karil the Tainted's Crypt (the central south burial mound). Click on your quick prayer to activate them and Special out on Karil the Tainted as soon as he appears. After the 2-4 specials attacks drink a dose of special recovery potion and do 1 more special attack. If you do not kill him with the specials switch to your primary weapon that you brought and kill him with that. As soon as you defeat a barrows brother leave via the stairs or Draken's Medallion as soon as possible as the longer you are down there the more prayer you lose. (Turn off prayers as you run to the stairs)

I use the gear with stars by it and my stats are as follows:
Stab-230
Slash-398
Crush-366
Magic-190
Ranged-210
This gives enough def i usually dont have to pray anyone except dharok.

Pro Tip: Slayer Dart is less accurate if you have armor on, it's a myth. The fact that the barrows have such low magic defense (the melee ones) makes almost any spell accurate with full metal armor gear (even fire bolt, go ahead and try and you won't miss) Slayer Dart is good because the runes you receive at the end, death and minds, get replenished, other than that, polypore staff is much better, accurate, and stronger. Hope this helped clear a misconception that has been running through Runescape for years.

Tip: When doing multiple chests in a single trip to the Barrows, using melee, after emerging victorious from the tomb; be sure to challenge Ahrim next, without stat boosts. This allows you to boost after him, and you won't lose the stats due to his special ability!

Try using the staff of light. It gives a 15% magic damage boost (while the polypore is 13%), it allows you to cast slayer dart, the special attack of the staff will give 50% protection against all melee damage (I find this useful against verac since he can ignore all your armor bonuses), and it has a 1/8 chance of saving casting runes. While the polypore staff is stronger, I prefer the special of the SoL in barrows.
