How does this update benifit the users of the "Local Forums".?
We have an amazing Norwegian Community with the greatest J-Mod any player could wish for (Mod Petal) and i do not understand why you choose to shut us down.
Is it to save money? If yes, atleast be honest about it and not make some BS "diplomatic" statement that doesnt make sense at all. There are players that post on the local and the main forum so i dont get why you have the urge to "unite" us by removing the local forums.
We have an amazing community and you will now destroy it, thanks alot.
Why would you destroy something that we all enjoy so much?
Just proves how you don't even care about us players anymore.
Thx for removing another amazing part of Runescape.
****** me off that you come up with such non-sense!

Heya,
We honestly believe that this is the best way to support some of our localised communities. Bringing them in to the larger community means we can offer bigger and better support such as events and competitions. Every decision we make has been about what is best for the individual community and the wider community.
Mat.

^ I think you don't honestly believe :P . We can use english forums if we want. I do use english forums for future updates and jagex arranged events for example. I really just love being member of smaller community in our own forums. You can have your events as you wish. I will even participate in couple of them. I just wish you could leave us our little fantastic forumcommunity.
Over 1/2 of the people I know that frequently post on finnish forums say they will not use english forums or use them only little. I am aware of competitions you make. There are even a forum mod that translates all your made competitions into finnish.
It doesn't really matter if you bring 100-300 players more to your community when there are like 2 million active players. Most of them don't use forums.
Also I don't believe what you said about it being best for individual community. I can't find any example where splitting smaller community into larger has given any good. Take example Yugoslavia or Soviet Union (BTW they both had wars between the minority and larger amount of people. Maybe the example was a bit irrelevant but anyways.

And also what Banim said down below.

I honestly believe you are wrong, you can't offer support when a good amount of them have trouble speaking and understanding English.
Support is not equal to events and competitions. Which, by the way, were already being done in the language communities. When those events and competitions needed to be brought to the wider community, it wasn't hard at all to do. Wars, events and tournaments among these communities weren't too rare. And they were fun.
And more than once I invited the Spanish community to one of my clan's events, for example... and my clan is US based. No way for me to invite Spanish players like myself if those forums didn't exist. No way for me to explain how to participate in the event and what the rules are (you see, my clan likes to do events with some original twists from time to time) if I can't post in Spanish anymore. So I won't be able to do these things now, unless I start using Spanish fansites.
Making player clans about different communities to use their clan forums isn't really a solution. I reckon they wouldn't be easy to find and use. It just ain't the same, no matter how you put it.

Mod Mat K of course I dont think you wake up on the morning thinking "how can we make the worst change to the comunity?" No one is saying that!
But we are telling you that if you want to make the community more united then it wont work for most of spanish speakers, because they dont know english, and english barrier will just push them away.
Localized forums havent been here from the beggining, we know how it was... and for us this change is like moving back to a bad situation, instead of moving to a better one.

I can honestly say that I was very surprised at the amount of misinformation and plain ignorance (I don't say "ignorance" in an offensive sense) of Spanish players when they noticed a new Spanish forum section and started posting their questions.
A lot of people didn't know what mods were, what their role was, how to recognize them, how to recover stolen accounts, how to send a billing e-mail, what payment methods they could use to get membership, etc... and some of these weren't exactly new to RuneScape. Some had been playing for years. The English language barrier is that big for some of these players, believe me.
The Spanish forums helped inform and educate the community about these and other issues, such as scam prevention, reporting properly, keeping their computers & accounts safe, and many more things. The Help forum had a ton of regulars who always gave spot-on advice on everything to those who were lost.
I fail to see how eliminating a poweful tool such as the Spanish and the other language forums were is going to help the community.

I'm Magehunt502 from Spanish Community.
¤ Really, I don't understand what Jagex want whit this "Update".
¤ I really think that you should examine what these communities have contributed to the user. Considering: Player Support, Clan Meetings, Community Events.. Etc.
¤ Why not rethink the idea and see some better solution? Like... Give us a "Private" section on the English Forums..
====
¤ I have a Question..
¤ Will you give space for a thread like "I need a Jmod!" on each language? I mean, to have personal assistance in a particular language. Do not forget that not all players handle well the English, including me.
¡Lucky!,

This is true, really hard-hit communities will be unable to get help in their native language.
