For the longest time we had wondered why there were no graves in Meiyerditch. Now we know. We had assumed they threw them in mass graves or left them to rot in the mines. But the truth is far, far more gruesome. They have been twisting the dead into horrible, macabre creatures to an unknown means. Some men whisper that it was to find an alternative food-source. Some think them to be a failed scare-tactic. I cannot put much faith into either. All I know is that someone wanted us to find those tunnels, and as much as I do not wish to delve back into those depths, it would be irresponsible for the Myreque not to.

I have called many meetings in the last few days, bringing in my most promising of recruits and affiliates to assess our predicament. Billy, Samuel, Kalas, and Anabell have been working diligently on the tasks I have slated for them. I have Anabell on guard duty, watching over the building the labs are under. If any covens are involved, we need to know as soon as possible. I have Billy and Samuel working on theories and conjectures about the strange stones. So far they have agreed it is some form of altar, likely runic in nature. I will be escorting them to the altar sometime in the next few days to survey it in person. I have no desire to return to that dreadful place, but I cannot afford to hesitate. Kalas was in charge of ascertaining the origin of the mutated behemoths, and she was the first to report back. Demonic in nature, specifically Bloodvelds as mentioned earlier. For now we are simply biding our time until our next expedition below Meiyerditch, waiting for the vampyric air-traffic to settle down enough to depart.

It has been another while since I have had the luxury of updating the lieutenant's log. I don't even know where to begin. I suppose I will start with Maria, a lovely little smith who came down from the sky to aid our cause. I suppose it would be fair to word it that way. She was caught outside of Meiyerditch wielding a silver sickle by a passing Vyrewatch and it dropped her right in the middle of the most North-Eastern sector. I found her shortly after and tended to her wounds. When I found that she was a Misthalinian, I decided to take her back to the Headquarters to heal up. She was slated to be escorted back to Paterdomus with the next supply run, but once she saw the desperate condition in Meiyerditch with clear eyes, she quickly decided to stay and help the cause. I could do little to sway the lass from the service. She has done us proud so far, fixing up things here and there. She has had a nasty cough, though. Nothing a little dirt won't fix.

The next bits of news I am not happy to chronicle. I suppose we'll start with the worst of the batch. Kalas, in a misguided attempt to draw attention away from Myreque activity, saw it fit to demolish a building and disguise it as the Myreque hideout. That did not go over well, and the ghetto was overrun with Vyrewatch searching for the cause of the blast. With the base in danger, I organized a diversion of my own. Posing as Myreque from outside of the walls, my men and I led the Vyrewatch on a wild-kebbit chase throughout the city and into the swamps. Regrouping at the Grotto, I forbade Kalas from operating in Meiyerditch until further notice.

Next, I suppose, is Alec. A mercenary left behind by his brethren, he was found in Burgh de Rott by Anabell and Maria while they were en route to a meeting. Initially, he was very curt and almost confrontational, leaving both Maria and Anabell to distrust him. When Solomon stumbled upon him, things got a bit out of hand. I was eventually called in to sort things out. Once you get past Alec's grating exterior, he's a fine soldier and a damn good quartermaster. I left him in Veliaf's charge to see if he has what it takes to help run the Meiyerditch operation.

The most concerning bit of news concerns Solomon. I had brought him into Meiyerditch to replace Kalas after her incident, but he soon requested a transfer back to Burgh de Rott. I granted his request not long after we recruited Alec. When we went to check in on Alec today, a werewolf swam ashore in Burgh de Rott. Anabell and Alec loosed upon it, and it spoke to us in a familiar tone. Then it shifted back to a human... it was Solomon! I have happily worked with wolves in the past, but never have I had one deceive their way into my service. I did the only thing I could, I took him into custody after calming Anabell and Alec down and brought him before Veliaf for judgment. Not seeking to become the monsters we are fighting Veliaf let Solomon go without question, relieving him of his service to the Myreque. After he packed his things, I escorted him out of Burgh de Rott. I hope he does not betray Veliaf's kindness. Perhaps he can rebuild Veliaf's trust and return to the service of the sickle.

Needless to say, these events have complicated our plans for the tunnels under Meiyerditch. With any luck, we will be back on track soon. I will be consulting all of my affiliates before we delve back into those depths. I am operating with fewer men and our attention is divided across Morytania. Now I know why Veliaf has so many grey hairs. Werewolves, explosions, betrayal, and disappointment... and here I thought the vyres would be the worst I have to deal with. Ah well, such is the life of the Myreque. With enough determination, we will prevail.

In our spare time, when we have it, we have been scouting out the ruins of Meiyerditch. For a sprawling ghetto, we found quite a few places of interest. Mostly bunk-houses and towers with decent vantage points. I have also had to help tend the forge up north. The ancient thing is barely functioning. Judging by the equipment on the top floor and the massive hole in that floor and the one below it, I somehow doubt it was originally on the ground floor. However, it is a labor of love for Maria. During her stay with us, she has been working her silver-smithing at that rickety, old fire-hazard. Just today Vertida allowed her to work with some of their mithril reserves. I cannot wait to see what the lass brings back, I am sure it will be of excellent quality. If she does well enough, she could be the key to turning the tide of this war of attrition in our favor.

20th of Bennath-

I have returned to Morytania after the conclusion of the Fall of Kandarin to find an empty base and no Myreque as far as the eye can see. I fear the worst has happened to my comrades, and will begin searching the marshes for their bodies in the morning. I discovered one of Isaac's old journals, and am busily reading through it in the hope that I may know how my band of brothers fell. If you find this note, know that salvation is on the way. With the knowledge I have gained in Kandarin and with the armies I have befriended, we can free this damned land from the hands of the Vyre once and for all, and restore a true peace throughout the land. I urge you not to lose hope, even as I slowly lose sight of the possibility of finding my brothers in arms alive.

Perseus Desidenius

Position Requested:
Purifier, or Enforcer for roster reasons

Character Race:
Human

Brief History:
Perseus was born in Misthalin, having a relatively uneventful life up until his teenage induction into the Edgeville Monastery. There, he took in the teachings of Saradomin and allowed them to become his entire life. Perseus immersed himself in tomes of knowledge, meditation, and prayer, to bring himself as close to Saradomin as he could.

It was during a religious mission in the Eastern Lands that Perseus acquired his intense hatred for undead, where he and his fellow monks were besieged by zombies controlled by a powerful Zamorakian necromancer, whom had come to the Eastern Lands to spread the word of his god. Perseus' fellow monks were killed and raised from the dead to fight him again. It was only through sheer luck that Perseus survived to return to Gielinor.

Upon returning, he left the monastery, trading a book of prayer for a book of spells as he studied within the Wizard Tower. He applied himself towards mastering magic to blend with his strength of spirit to become a powerful force against dark forces.

Perseus has answered the call for mercenaries in Morytania. With his quarterstaff and his spellbook, he is more than ready to exact his hatred against the undead now more than ever. By combining his spellcraft with staff-fighting martial arts, Perseus becomes a whirling dervish of graceful dances and elemental storms. Despite his intentions towards the undead and vampyres, Perseus is especially ruthless and not afraid to use intimidation or forceful coercion to get what he wants, even from other humans, so long as it means that the body count of the undead was significant enough to warrant the toes stepped on.
