As the group prepared to embark towards Arceuus' abode, they wisely made a detour to a nearby stall, procuring warm garments essential for the frigid expanse of the Northern Tundra. Armed with their newfound supplies, they proceeded to the Arceuus library with the intention of delving into the Wintertodt's mysteries, seeking weaknesses and historical insights. Inside the library, while the others immersed themselves in books, Eugene took charge of researching the enigmatic Wintertodt.

Amidst the scholarly pursuits, Gwyn, the rogue elf of the group, discerned an anomaly in the sky—an elusive winged figure soaring above. Though its features remained obscured at such heights, a consensus formed that it might be an Icyene.

Opting for discretion, they stealthily infiltrated the library to alert their comrades, prompting a collective effort to devise a strategy for evading the winged enigma. Upon stepping outside, Zaramoth experienced a telepathic connection with the figure, beckoning him as the emissary of the "Queen" who desired an audience. Initially presuming it to be an Icyene with a monarch separate from Saradomin, Zaramoth's assumption shattered as he approached the winged entity. It was revealed to be a Fallen Nihil, emissary of the Queen of Ashes.

Prior to departing for his extended conversation with the Queen's emissary, Zaramoth urged the group to press on with their original quest, foreseeing a protracted discourse. Of all the companions, only Marwynn, the elf wizard, chose to stay behind.

The Fallen Nihil bridged Zaramoth's consciousness to the Queen of Ashes, commending him for his ascendant power and progression in his journey. In recognition of his accomplishments, she elevated him from a paladin to a conqueror, revealing her grand ambition to conquer Gielinor through his endeavors. Despite being left with more questions than answers, Zaramoth deferred further communication with the Queen, prioritizing the immediate task at hand.

Upon rejoining Marwynn, the duo caught up with the rest of the group, who had set up camp in the unforgiving terrain of the Northern Tundra. Zaramoth shared the encounter with the winged figure but withheld specifics, choosing to unravel more information before divulging the intricacies of his conversation with the emissary.

As the group settled into their restless sleep in the frigid Tundra, Eugene assumed the responsibility of standing guard for the first few hours. Despite scanning the desolate landscape throughout the night, he encountered nothing out of the ordinary. However, as dawn approached, he decided to undertake a bold and painful venture – replacing his dead eye with a magical one he had crafted. The grueling self-procedure was a testament to Eugene's determination, and soon after, he resumed his watch with an otherworldly vision.

Waking up Gwyn after an hour, the two elves sensed something amiss amid the snow. Their investigation revealed a stealthy intruder had infiltrated the camp, leaving a trail of missing belongings in their wake. Annoyed and concerned, they roused Zaramoth to take over guard duty while they set out to apprehend the thief.

Following the tracks, Marwynn and Gwyn found themselves in an abandoned fishing hub known as the Fishing Hamlet. Their culprit, a disoriented and seemingly deranged man, was discovered chewing on stolen items, including Marwynn's crystal bow and Gwyn's engagement ring. After a careful and stealthy approach, Gwyn managed to incapacitate the thief, reclaim their possessions, and provide the distressed individual with some sustenance.

Returning to camp before morning, the group decided to continue their journey towards the Witnertodt camp. There, they briefed Captain Kalt of the Shayzien Guard and Ignisia, guildmaster of the Order of the Sacred Flames, about the potential threat. Both leaders concurred that the guards and pyromancers needed to prepare for a possible attack.

Assisting in the fortification efforts, Eugene strategically planted landmines around the camp's perimeter. Marwynn honed the guards' archery skills, ensuring they were ready for long-range engagements. Gwyn and Zaramoth utilized their magical prowess to reinforce the camp's defenses.

As the ominous presence of the Bane-Bringers loomed over the Northern Tundra, Eugene, a member of the adventuring party, discovered a dire threat – an Ice Giant accompanied by 20 Ice Warriors advancing toward them. Intent on alerting the Shayzien guards and pyromancers, the party was caught off guard by an unexpected ambush. Forced to defend the southern entrance alongside eight Shayzien guards, they faced a formidable challenge.

In the midst of impending battle, Gwyn made a strategic decision to infiltrate the enemy lines and locate the ice wizards, recognizing that eliminating them could neutralize the Ice Warriors and disrupt the protective snow. The group, fighting valiantly alongside the guards, witnessed the gradual demise of their comrades while managing to take down a few Ice Warriors. As the conflict intensified, a pivotal moment arrived when Gwyn successfully halted the ice wizards, causing the snowfall to cease and providing the group with a renewed fighting chance.

Tragically, Eugene fell victim to the relentless assault of the Ice Warriors, succumbing to the onslaught. The realization of Eugene's demise struck the party only after the battle concluded, thanks to Gwyn's efforts. With Eugene not in a coma but permanently lost, the devastated party awaited Gwyn's return to deliver the heart-wrenching news.

Gwyn somberly returned to the Wintertodt camp, greeted by HH and Marwynn. In a grim twist of fate, Marwynn conveyed the heartbreaking news of Eugene's demise in battle. Initially dismissing it as a cruel jest, Gwyn hastened to the tent, only to be confronted by the undeniable truth. Devastated, the group stood by Gwyn's side, collectively mourning the loss of their comrade.

After a poignant few minutes, the group steeled themselves to confront the Master, the nefarious architect behind the invasion that claimed Eugene's life. In a visceral act of retribution, HH delivered a resounding punch, rendering their old master unconscious. The shocking realization reverberated through HH and the master's followers. HH promptly teleported away, leaving the others to return to the camp.

Marwynn channeled her anger and frustration, showing no mercy to the followers of the malevolent master. Upon returning to the camp, the group received a reward in the form of loot from fallen warriors, a solemn tribute to their fallen comrade. Simultaneously, preparations were made to transport Eugene's remains.

Once ready, they teleported back to Ardougne. Meanwhile, Marwynn and Gwyn sought solace at the Invention guild to uncover the location of Eugene's parents. In parallel, Rivemay and Tardif also returned to the city. Tardif sought comfort with his chosen family, while Rivemay, upon hearing of Eugene's demise from Zaramoth, faced the strains of their relationship amid revelations about Zaramoth's new deity and impending mission.

Gwyn and Marwynn, armed with the address of Eugene's parents in Lumbridge, made the journey to deliver the heart-wrenching news. In Lumbridge, amidst tears and shared moments of mourning, Eugene's parents granted Gwyn the responsibility of deciding his funeral arrangements, revealing Eugene's past wish for a pyre funeral. Following a poignant exchange of tea and conversation, Gwyn and Marwynn departed Lumbridge, returning to Ardougne. Finally home, they sought solace after an emotionally taxing and heart-breaking journey.
