An Explanation of Graces

Graces are a form of specialized ability that emerged shortly after the discovery of runes. It is said that this incredibly rare talent had almost no explanation for showing itself in those who received them. It had no genetic coding, it wasn’t any form of magic, it just would appear. Those with Graces were called the Gracegiven, and were generally admired as it was an incredibly rare ability. It was so rare that many dismissed it as a mythological event, and some did*’t even know it was a thing. The study of Graces was known as Gratiology, and was a field that was generally frowned upon until recently. The death of Guthix and the shift in the anima mundi caused an upsurge in the amount of Gracegiven on Gielinor, to a point where it was no longer mythologically rare but just simply uncommon.

Graces can be any form of power or superpower-esque ability that exists, though it is generally advised to not go overboard with how powerful the Graces are. Extra Graces do not appear on people unless they are exposed to a serious fluctuation in the anima mundi, or in OOC terminology, if the person playing the character asks for it with good reason.

Worlds in Contact with Gielinor

Abbinah:
: A shattered world consisting entirely of floating islands, and a core made entirely of water. It is the homeworld of the Aviantese and is hard to navigate without flight.

Abyss:
Supposedly the gutted remains of the greatest Cthonian to ever live, Hostillius, who was stretched and pressed between worlds like a grotesque puppet. It is a fleshy, corrupted place sick with unholy energy. It is the current home to remaining Cthonian demons and many other more twisted, corrupted breeds of Demon.

Freneskae:
A mostly dead world of hazardous volcanic crags and constant heat lightning storms. It is the resting place of the Elder God Mah, and the homeworld of her Dreams. It is also the base of operations for the god Zaros.

Haven:
A paradise, where people go when they die and are guided by an angel. It generally takes the form of whatever someone’s personal paradise is, but in reality it is a realm of pure blinding light.

Hell:
A realm that is impossible to explain, it is the homeworld of every breed of demon to ever exist, and is run off a hierarchy system by a King or Queen, who is essentially the most powerful demon or demoness at the time in Hell. It is mostly seen as a plain of fire with some cities dotting here and there.

Infernus:
The home currently to the Avernic demons, it is a plane of fire similar to Hell, but lacking a formal government or strange chaotic organization. Demons who die on Gielinor are sent here, and it is essentially a forward command center for demons wishing to enter Gielinor from Hell, as they must first pass through Infernus.

Kethsi:
A dead world that was destroyed by the Dragonkin, it is accessible but dangerous as it is home to many powerful creatures that were left behind.

Mazcab:
(Not yet in contact)

New Domina:
A world of islands and eternal moving winter, where Icyenes must constantly migrate to not freeze to death. It is a holy realm but not an afterlife realm. It is the homeworld of Icyenes.

Shadow Realm:
A sort of film that covers the world of Gielinor, that is invisible to the human eye. It is enterable through shadow magic, but it is known to corrupt mortals who access it. Mahjarrat are said to have great control over it, and are able to usually enter it or leave at will.

Tarddiad:
A realm of crystals and nature, it is the homeworld of the Elves, and it is very attuned to the arts of crystal singing and crystal magic.

The Void:
While not a world entirely, the nothingness between worlds has to be mentioned. Essentially, the Void is what exists in the absence of matter. It is complete and total nothingness, and yet it exists and therefore must be something. It is essentially a phenomenon that is beyond mortal comprehension.

Underworld/Spirit World:
The underworld is the true Gielinoran afterlife, and no one truly knows what that entails. It is said that the Spirit World is a happier version of our world, where life is whatever the host spirit wants it to be.

Zanaris:
Gielinor’s moon, home to strange fairy magic and the Fairy race.

Lineage Traits

Lineage Traits are essentially a power that is passed throughout families thanks to a portion of their lineage that allows for said trait to exist. For example, a family with traces to a Mahjarrat in their lineage have the lineage trait of Telepathy, which can also exist as a Grace, but within this family they would never receive that as a Grace thanks to them already having it from their Lineage. In Lineage Traits, the newest trait takes precedence over the old trait, so if a family had Icyenic Lineage but later down the line it gained Mahjarrat Lineage, the Mahjarrat Trait would carry on from that point. These are the races for which Lineage Traits apply:

Angelic Lineage:
Holy Ward, essentially this Lineage Trait gives the family the ability to be considered blessed, and therefore harmful to creatures or beings considered unholy. This is a trait that can be activated, and even honed to create a shield of holy light around themselves.

Demonic Lineage:
Berserker, which allows for the trait wielder to go into a rage where they feel no pain and gain incredible strength. However, any wounds sustained during the rage will hurt after and will still affect them as they would normally.

Dwarven Lineage:
Night Vision, allows for those with this trait to see well in dark caves or at night. When honed, it allows for the ability to see physical weaknesses in structures or organisms.

Elemental Lineage:
Elemental Form, allows for those with the trait to take on the form of whatever species of elemental they are related to. Once honed they can even control that element, essentially becoming a lesser elemental themselves.

Elven Lineage:
Enhanced Conditioning, those with Elven Lineage are stronger and more agile than the normal human. Once honed, one with Elven Lineage can have the status of an Olympic-class athlete.

Fairy Lineage:
Levitation, through the power of pure belief one with Fairy Lineage can levitate instead of walking. Once honed, those with Fairy Lineage can even fly for short distances.

Gorajan Lineage:
Dreamwalker, which allows for the user to freely enter a nearby person’s dream. If honed, it can even be used to draw others into your own dream or even control the dreams of others once inside.

Icyenic Lineage:
Holy Light, which is the ability to wield holy light as a light source. Once honed, it can even be used to fire bolts of holy energy.

Lycanthropic Lineage:
You are a lycanthrope, that trait is always dominant and therefore there is no Lycanthropic Lineage trait.

Mahjarrat Lineage:
Telepathy, allows for basic entrance and perusal of the thoughts of others. Once honed, it can be used to enter the mind of others and forcibly remove memories if in physical contact, or even cause mental pain or confusion.
