Known Races

Angels:
A race of holy entities from a world known as Haven. Not to be confused with the Icyene of New Domina, Angels are not as tall, fast, or strong in comparison to Icyene, but make up for it in their abilities over light and healing. While they are not susceptible to Graces, Angels are still powerful in their own right. They are essentially beings of pure light which can manifest into a physical form if needed, they can die if in physical form, which is why they are known to run from battle if they are losing. In their physical form they can look however they want, and can be determined by a white ring of light above their head, or halo. They also often manifest white-feathered wings on their back. Their language is Common, however they have a different written language known as Enochian.

Aviansie:
Humanoid avian creatures from the world of Abbinah, Aviansie were the creators of the citadels that float across Gielinor. A good number of the aviansie were massacred during the God Wars, leading to them near extinction. Aviansie are susceptible to one Grace, one of the least susceptible races in Gielinor. This is due to the fact that they are already able to fly, and their eyesight is superb, far better than that of any other race. This leads to them having insane accuracy, it is almost impossible for them to miss their target unless they moved. Aviansie can look very different based on the breed they are.

Cats:
Supremely intelligent four-legged felines that are sometimes known to be a form of reincarnated fallen warriors. Cats are actually susceptible to Graces, a phenomenon that completely baffles Gratiologists. Gracegiven cats are known to be given Language Amulets to communicate and are actually accepted in some societies as equal citizens if they can speak.

Crondites:
Humanoid crocodiles from the world of Desdemania, they were brought through a Rift very recently and are set up in the town of Nardah, where they are respected as emissaries of Crondis. The Crondites saw this as an opportunity and have not corrected the Nardah people, seeing the free food and place to stay as an opportunity. Crondites are not grace susceptible, all are able to manipulate water and sand to different effects.

Demons:
A loose term for various unholy creatures from the realms of the Abyss, Hell, and Infernus. While the subspecies of demon are far too vast to name, their similarities lie in their weaknesses to holy water or blessed items. Most demons have a weakness to a certain type of metal, but the type depends on the demon, not even two demons of the same breed could have the same weakness in regards to metal, so holy items are a better bet. Demons are not exactly grace-susceptible, but they are born with natural demonic abilities that differ between demon, giving flexibility between them.

Djinni:
Or more commonly known as Genies, are a race of beings made of pure magical essence. They are powerful in regards to the ability to change their form and even warp reality depending on another’s request, however each genie has its own moral code that they follow, and will never be able to break it once set. They are also confined to a container unless they are summoned by a mortal, which can only be done once per person. If they are freed, which can only be done by a wish, a genie loses their ability to warp reality, but keeps a powerful hold over magical energies. They are not grace-susceptible, but are powerful enough that this is less than a hindrance. (No longer an option save for event or plot reasons and will be most likely denied by Council Members for casual sessions.)

Dragonkin:
A mysterious race of draconic humanoids. They are both powerful and malevolent, able to use magic beyond mortal comprehension. (They are only mentioned here for completion and are not to be played unless it is for a plot, as they are low in number and very high and power.)

Dwarves:
Short humanoids that were forced underground by the God Wars, they are a mining-centered community and mostly worship Guthix. They are Grace-susceptible but can only get one, though they are all naturally durable and have large lungs, allowing for better ability to breathe.

Elves:
Tall, lithe humanoids from the world of Tarddiad. They were brought over by their matron goddess, Seren before the God Wars. Elves are most notable from their elongated ears, a feature shared by the entire race, regardless of clan. Elves are grace-susceptible, but also have an affinity for other skills, and depending on the clan are usually raised well-trained in said skills.

Elementals:
Beings that are made of a pure form of magic energy. They can take on a human form as a disguise, but underneath this are made up entirely of a form of magical energy. These are classified by runes, and an elemental has complete control over whatever element they are made of. Obviously, Elementals are not grace susceptible. They are usually created as servants to powerful mages, or just by pure divine energy. They can breed due to their human form, and the resulting child usually takes on its mother’s element. This, however, forces an elemental into their human form for the short duration of their pregnancy (2 months).

Fairies:
Small, magical beings from Gielinor’s moon, Fairies are mischievous and playful, and are in charge of the world’s weather, prosperous growth of crops, and the passing of seasons. As small as they are, many Fairies are experts in size magic, able to manifest themselves in full humanoid forms if needed. They are powerful with most forms of magic, able to bend it to their will, and thus are not grace-susceptible.

Ghosts:
The restless souls of those who have past, ghosts are incorporeal and angry beings that exist only in forms of pure emotion from something disturbing their rest. They are able to possess living creatures, move objects by possessing them, and are incredibly cold to the “touch.” They are fairly easy to put to rest, simply solving whatever problem is keeping them from passing on.

Gnomes:
A small humanoid race that hid underground, like the Dwarves, in the God Wars. However, unlike the Dwarves, they did not stay underground. Their genius and affinity for nature and magic combined allowed them to create a huge civilization around a massive tree. They are great archers and even better inventors, having created some of the most advanced technology in the world alongside Dwarves, Humans, and Cave Goblins. They are grace-susceptible.

Goblins:
Since the God Wars, Goblins are divided between surface goblins and cave goblins. Surface goblins live an unthinking life of fighting and bloodshed, following the commandments of Bandos. Cave goblins, or the Dorgeshuun, are much more intelligent, ignoring Bandos and living a life of free-thought and progression, having even invented a form of electricity to power their lights. Both are Grace-susceptible, though only cave goblins use the terms Grace and Gracegiven. Goblins, however, go by their own terms, as they generally do, and refer to those in their race who have been given powers as Witchbreeds.

Gorajo: A strange and powerful race from another world, the Gorajo snuck through portals into Gielinor at Daemonheim. Gorajo hate the undead and all forms of darkness, and have a society based heavily on the Native Americans. While not grace-susceptible, Gorajo are powerful in their own right depending on the caste they are born into: Stormbringers levitate and wield powerful magic, Bloodragers are super durable, Skinweavers can levitate and can heal most wounds with a touch, Deathslingers have amazing dexterity and agility and use thrown weapons, Worldbearers are super strong and believe in taking the weight of others for themselves, and Hoardstalkers are incredibly fast and agile, but very weak as their job is to scavenge for resources. Since the Daemonheim Cataclysm, Gorajo are found almost anywhere.

Humans:
The most adaptable race in Gielinor, Humans hail from Teragard originally, but can come from most worlds. They are also the most susceptible to Graces of any race on Gielinor, with the ability to have as many as three at once. They are also the most dangerous, with their ability to somehow conquer most of the known world, and be simultaneously smart and inventive while also brutish and conquering if needed. Their worship varies greatly, and they are the most common race on Gielinor.

Hobgoblins:
An agile, stronger Bandosian species than the average goblin, they are said to be a cross between goblin and ork, being the perfect all-around combat unit for Bandosian armies. They are agile like goblins, but strong like orks. They are Grace-susceptible, but only Graces that enhance physical capabilitie

Icyene:
Stronger, faster, and larger than the Angels of Haven, Icyene are Saradomin’s chosen generals and commanders due to their command over holy powers and divine lightning. They hail from the world of New Domina, a world impossible to survive on without wings. This means that wings are the most important part of Icyenic society. Unlike angels, whose wings are more cosmetic, Icyenes are essentially sentenced to death without their wings. However, their four wings allow for them to be incredibly fast fliers, in addition to being one of the tallest races on Gielinor.

Lycanthropes:
Lycanthropes are a form of cursed humans who have the ability to shapeshift. The lycanthropic gene is always dominant, meaning that a half-breed is never truly a half-breed, and it can't be lost through external breeding. There are different variations of lycanthrope, though the most well-known is the werewolf. The curse can be passed between humans through bite or deep claws. All lycanthropes are weak to silver and mistletoe. A lot of them can partially shift or use their abilities while still in mostly human form, these abilities differing between whatever they can shift into.

Mahjarrat:
Belonging to a race known as the Dreams of Mah, Mahjarrat are the last surviving tribe of the Freneskae. Mahjarrat have very long lifespans, but this can only continue if one of their own is sacrificed at each Ritual of Rejuvenation. They can die only from intense wounds, or skipping out on too many rituals without conserving some energy to live off of. They are some of the most powerful users of magic to ever walk the face of Gielinor. It is unknown of any specific powers that are shared by all Mahjarrat, but they are all incredibly adept at magic, this much is known for sure. This means they are not Grace-susceptible.

Undead:
The state of living on after death, undeath can take on many forms, from powerful liches to lesser zombies, the many forms of undead are far too many to list. Many are mindless drones, but some are well aware of their own identity after death, and exist as powerful beings in the world. Undead are surprisingly able to access whatever Graces they had in life, but usually they don’t have the same level of control over it as when they were alive.

Vampyres:
A race of humanoid bat-like creatures that survive on blood, they hail from the world of Vampyrium. They have three stages of development, juvenile, j**inate, and vyre. Vyres are among the most powerful of races on Gielinor. They are fast, and have a sort of momentary precognition that allows them to dodge most attacks, though not those done by an unpredictable weapon such as a flail. They are weak to silver and holy items. They are Grace-susceptible, as most humanoids can be turned into vampyres, therefore carrying Graces with them. Also, as vampyres are not born, but made, they are born whatever race their mother and father were originally, and have to be turned. Vampyrism can be cured to a 50/50 chance with a Guthix Balance Potion, but the other 50% is death.
