Did you get caught up in that app lockout the other day Joel?
Can't believe they hadn't considered the fact that if you use an pp to gain access, you might just need some kind of failsafe. :P
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?

I was actually affected by that lockout thingy. However, it wasn't really a lockout.

I wasn't able to see my Model Y load up (start climate etc).. but the bluetooth functions worked fine. I didn't even know it was a thing before reading about it haha. Most Tesla owners carry their key card as an emergency.. but most times, never needed. :P

Ah thanks Kathy, I didn't know there was a key card. Makes sense!

Yeah very hard to get stranded in a Tesla :P You get 2 key cards... and you can get an optional key fob (if you prefer that).. but the phone app usually works so not really needed. All that is required is that the app is in the background (at least for iOS) otherwise car won't respond to bluetooth (opening the door).

I didn't get impacted personally. I think I was back in the UK that day when that happened :P

But as Kathy said, as owners you get 2 key cards that most people carry at least one in their wallet to make a direct connection to the car as a backup and if setup correctly, your phone doesn't connect to the car over the Internet when its nearby but rather a Bluetooth connection so that would have still worked too.

It was just remote access over the Internet that was impacted but something that they need to work on avoiding in the future regardless :)

Kathy... you have a Y now? :O
