Thought I'd follow up on this given I just read about someone in a Model Y who was stuck in Virginia on the I-95 that has been in the news.

They were stuck for 16 hours. They used 13% of their battery while in 'Camp' mode which keeps the HVAC running at the desired temperature, had a nap, watched some Netflix before finally being able to get on their way... 13%!

I heard about that too! Truly amazing lol - I would have done the same thing if I was stuck like that. No reason to stress yourself at the wheel when its a literal standstill :P

That's pretty impressive!
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?

TSLA stock has been doing well ;)

Absolutely :P

So since the last time I posted I had my first proper (and kinda serious) issue with my Model 3.

For several months as winter kicked in there were numerous reports from drivers of their heat pumps failing in really cold temperatures. Tesla tried to resolve the issues through software but in certain instances software wasn't enough.

I had a friend visiting from the UK in January. We did a snowboarding trip from Toronto into Quebec (7/8 hour drive one way). It was so cold that weekend, average temp was -20c/-35c.

4 hours into the trip, the temp in the car seemed to drop drastically. Heat pump failed. :(

Luckily the next supercharging stop was 15mins away. Got there, called Tesla Roadside and they couldn't have been more helpful! They ran remote diagnostics while on the phone, ordered a tow truck, and ordered me a rental car at their expense.

Luckily the heat did come back after I checked again so I ended up cancelling all of that and tried to continue the trip in my car. Seemed that the pump would trip out if it worked too hard so I just kept the cabin temp a little lower. It held out the rest of the trip and return home journey.

Booked the car in for service after I got home, they replaced some parts under warranty and it's been OK since.

My first experience of an issue and honestly, the service was awesome!

For me it's been most good as well!

Only issue is to get a Service Centre appt is a mission in and of itself. My Y's repeater went out about 2 months ago and they replaced under warranty. Now, BOTH cameras are out :@

Thankfully I got an appointment prior for tire rotation and now included the camera issue in the notes.
