In regards to Musk's remarks about remote work (agree or disagree), there's obviously motives behind that view and stance that he's taken whether that be cost related, productivity related in the context of Tesla specifically and being of the opinion that their internal teams perhaps would be better working in person, in a more collaborative environment etc.

I'm not sure how he or Tesla isn't aligned with being green by asking remote workers to come back into the office? Unless you mean workers will have to commute and drive their vehicles/get transit which has an impact? Fair point.

But what if the output & productivity were better, or faster, or better quality by having people in the office for the reasons mentioned above? And that better productivity offset the environmental impacts of those commuting in the long run?

Just spitballing as I obviously don't know how much impact there would be, if any offset, what productivity has looked like for them during Covid vs pre-Covid.

I just know Musk isn't a short sighted person but rather the opposite so decisions he makes (not saying he's right all the time) often lean towards longer term plans and goals.

Musk has a vested interest in getting cars on the road and, therefore, being against wfh. He also would have stated his environmental concern if that was the case. He basically said people who wfh are "pretending to work". With many studies suggesting that productivity was stable or rose during the pandemic (like this one:https://www.forbes.com/sites/adigaskell/2021/05/31/how-productive-have-remote-workers-been-during-covid/?sh=4e306748639e), it acts as an insult to those of us whose productivity increased ir remained stable( 90% of workers). This was the first result, but you can choose any of them really.

However, as far as being green, there are conflicting studies. Some suggest it is better to come to the office in the winter, because heating one building is better (they suggest that wfh in the summer is greener, though, which is exactly when he called people back to the office). Others that take a more holistic view and include things like the increase in car crashes, getting rid of vehicles for mass transit, take-out food, buying more office attire, etc... generally take the stance that wfh is greener.

Really, I don't see his reasoning other than being revenue driven. Productivity is up (and you bring the workers who struggle to the office if an individual's performance is suffering), wfh is greener in the summer even from the studies who suggest office work may be greener sometimes (and I had to specifically google "working from office is more green to get this)... but he called his workers in during the summer(?), and he never once stated an environmental concern.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

The thing with Tesla... when its released then I'll believe it haha. They're usually pretty good on promises, just not the timing of them mostly down to Musk being over optimistic and excited about stuff and says it'll be done one year and it actually takes a lot longer. :P

I've seen the Tesla Semi prototype's / few models they do already have and man are they fast!

Although arguably, any truck with a full load accelerating that fast won't have much of a load left to deliver :P

Their stock price is recovering this week which is nice. Musk did some selling again in case this Twitter deal goes through and I think next week is their stock split again, on the 25th :)

Have you been affected by the recent recall Joel?

I haven't heard anything as yet but maybe. It'll be fixed via a OTA software update though not really a major deal and their use of the word "recall" in these circumstances so so outdated and an over exaggeration lol.

There's no recall. Not 1 single vehicle has to be physically 'recalled' into the manufacturer for repair. NHTSA need to get with the times lol.
