So Tesla finally shipped its first set of Semi's to PepsiCo a few weeks ago and honestly look pretty incredible.
Super futuristic interior with two screens, up to 500 miles range. Could shape up to be the start of a huge move away from traditional diesel trucks that pollute inner-cities, especially for those neighbourhoods that have highways running next to them.
And on a slightly different note, will be setting off on a 2,100km Christmas/New Years road trip down to New York City for a few days first. Then from there, north through Montreal and into Quebec for a cottage in the middle of nowhere for Year Years before heading back to Ontario in early January.
Just need to get this huge winter storm blowing into Ontario today for the next few days out of the way!
Rough route plan so far with a number of charge stops:
Saw the super impressive line up of semis and the release, amazing.
Joel, hope you have a great trip.
I purchased some TSLA stock this week as I think the selling is well overdone. The business is doing well and its profitability metrics are #1. Growth continues at a rapid clip. They continue to experience extreme demand and are building new capacity to try to catch up with the demand. They’re also working on a more affordable car to hit the mass market. Attractive valuation at these levels too on a P/E basis.
Made it safely down to NYC and now back up to Quebec
Crossing the US Border and driving through Buffalo was a nightmare. 2+ hour lineup at the border and then all major highways closed so forced to take somewhat cleared backroads but still fairly sketchy. Turned a 9 hour drive/journey into 14 hours
But made it eventually haha
Drive up to Quebec though was great. Clear skies, little milder. Was predicting maybe 4/5 charge stops but only needed 3 so made good time
The 2 adults & 2 children in the car miraculously survived after the car drops 250-300ft over the cliff edge! Thankfully they're all alive despite this incident appearing as a deliberate attempt by the father.
Speaks to the level of safety Tesla's have and EVs overall moving forward and the way these vehicles typically handle impact. The battery being at the bottom gives the vehicle a low center of gravity, making it extremely difficult to flip vs a gas car with the engine weight being at the front of the vehicle. No flammable gas tank to ignite but instead having a battery structure being incredibly strong and rigid minimizing risk of damage that could lead to a fire on impact.
Hoping the family can make a full recovery and that there's a just outcome given the circumstances surrounding the father.
I think the recent price cuts show the versatility of Tesla’s low cost model. They’ve also raised prices significantly over the last 2 years, so there is a lot of room for price reductions. Good supply and demand toolkit.
Excited for the cybertruck release. Hoping that happens this year.
