Ehh,

According to my electric company's website, it is .10 per kwh.

The issue for me is cost. The current exchange rate for cad to usd is .78

So, using your numbers converted...

500 * .78 = 390 in finance charges. 390 * 12 = 4.7k ish a year. My current vehicle choices (which I do not finance) are about 2.5k a year including gas. Over the 10 year life of the vehicles... that is a 22k difference. (2.2k a year * 10).

I would have to finance to get an electric car at a rate that is essentially double what I am paying for my vehicle + gas per year.

Believe me, as soon as electric cars seriously come down in price (to the 3k per year range), I'll probably get one. But for now, it is just too costly.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

Top Gear have just done a list of the top 20 EVs, Tesla come in at #10 (Model S) and #2 (Model 3) which surprises me, I'd have thought they'd place the S higher than the 3.

Interesting to see differing makes/models compared to tests here. 3 tends to score higher than S in most tests here too though.

The most recent test from Motor/NAF had the following [new] 2021 models in their top 10:

1. Ioniq 5
2. Tesla Model Y
3. Cupra Born
4. Kia EV6
5. Volkswagen ID.4
6. Skoda Enyaq
7. Ford Mustang Mach-E
8. Nio ES8
9. BMW IX
10. BYD Tang

Personally if I were to go for an electric in the not too distant future Ioniq 5 or Kia EV6 seems to suit me best of these, but I still find them a bit pricy. Though that's be be expected by relatively new cars that's only just been delivery ready I suppose.

I find such features unnecessary in something initially designed to get you from place A to place B. Though for nowadays when some makes want you to go into the infotainment system/ touch screen to adjust basic things like wiper blade settings, safety probably isn't the first priority.

I'm not a fan of touch screen controls in a car. I often have a problem getting screens to respond to my touch. Maybe its because I'm old and the skin on my fingertips tends to be dry. Also my hands are often cold which is something thats affected me all my life. Thank goodness my car only has a few things controlled by a touch screen eg. the radio.

There were a couple of games that were playable while in Drive but I guess there were some very valid safety concerns which they've now quickly addressed through this year's Holiday Update :D

Got back from the UK Sunday night and got the new updated installed yesterday, new UI which looks great although could be improved further plus a few extra games (now you can play Sonic :D ) and features.

Through the Tesla app I can now remotely view the car's cameras and using the new Megaphone function, talk to the car and have whatever I say play out of the external speaker in a Darth Vader style voice haha
