I have watch every episode (save the lost ones) from the beginning. They used to show the early episodes on pbs and a friend taped them all. I watched until the last year. I had problem with the pc shows. They are trying to rewrite history and I do not believe a show like Dr. Who should be part of it.

I really enjoy Jodie's performance as The Doctor. I definitely agree that she got the short end of the stick with writers and has to make do with what she has. As for all the cringey dialect, I do find it tiresome but I try not to take notice of it. I genuinely think she would have been an amazing Doctor if she had Russel T or Steven Mophat writing the show instead of whoever is in charge now.

I dislike this big political push they had during Season 11 as the episodes were essentially just pushing a political agenda as opposed to exploring the vast and unexplored world of Doctor Who. They pretty much abandoned what made Doctor Who unique and decided to only portray real life situations in history. I am a lefty but damn that was a let down.

At least Season 12 somewhat brought it back to what is expected from Doctor Who although I hate this whole "Timeless Child" bs it just completely goes against every season prior for the sake of having a unique storyline. I might give up on the show tbh because I never feel excited when a new episode is out. I push it back for weeks whereas even with Capaldi who I wasn't big on I would watch it within a day of release.

Season 11 was mainly bad because of its standalone episodes. None of them were really any good. If we had episodes like "Midnight" or even "Blink" during Season 11, it would've saved it, but we didn't. That season is forgetful. I hardly remember the season because it had no stand-out moments.

Season 12 seemed better because of the story arc. That made the season have some sort of point even if the end result was really disappointing. It was building towards something and that kept the interest going.

Apart from that though, not much had changed. Jodie still felt like she wasn't the doctor to me and there was always this feeling every episode that something is missing. It is just not the same show any more and is probably going to get worse. They seem intent on educating viewers rather than entertaining them.

No more will we see episodes that are just focused on the worlds themselves. There's always going to be some sort of meaning or message that can be seen as "preachy" every episode. It's fine to have some of that, even older episodes had a message they wanted to get out occasionally, but it wasn't overdone and in your face like it is now.

Least I can still get enjoyment from re-watching the older episodes. Both Season 11 and 12 aren't re-watchable for me. The show currently stops at Capaldi's departure.

With access to better tech now (compared to 2005 and such), you'd think the episodes nowadays would be amazing, and they should be, but nope. New people came and unfortunately they don't share the same vision as those that were running it back then. So while the show looks pretty decent on-screen compared to the old days, it is actually worse than ever before because of how it's written.

It is a shame, really. Only hope now is wait for a new showrunner to see if anything changes for the better.

With the current team in charge of utterly ruining this once brilliant show, backed by the cowardly, virtue signaling sycophants at the BBC, there is no hope for the disaster fans have come to know and loathe as Doctor Woke to ever be salvaged or watchable. None at all. With the canon-obliterating Brainless Child BS, His Chibs proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that not only does he not understand the history of Doctor Who, he doesn't even care about it. He has shown utter contempt for all the previous Doctors and for every fan who enjoyed watching their adventures for over half a century.

For Doctor Who to survive, drastic measures must be taken. For starters, fire everyone. The cast, the crew, the miserable hack writers, His Chibs (fire him twice, if it can be arranged), the person who makes the coffee...everyone must go! Well, maybe the coffee person can stay. Of course, this would require someone with a lot of power at the BBC to make this happen - or someone with a lot of money and power to either force the BBC to clean up their act, or acquire the rights to the show from them. Then bring in some actual talent who have respect for, and knowledge of, Doctor Who. With a good showrunner, cast, and group of writers in place, the show could either admit the last two seasons were a mistake and come up with a storyline to explain away all the insanity - or simply declare everything after Peter Capaldi's regeneration to be non-canon, and start fresh with Doctors 1 through 12 being canon again, no Brainless Child nonsense, no silly "Morbius Doctors", no infinite regenerations, no Doctors before The Original (William Hartnell), and a proper 13th Doctor.

"It'll never happen." Maybe you're right, or maybe not. George Lucas has decided he hates the Disney Star Wars movies so much, he's declaring them non-canon, and plans to make three new sequels to replace them. With luck, something similar will save Doctor Who.

I tried watching one of the episodes I'd recorded but gave up and have now deleted them all.
I was a child when the series first came out and I'd sometimes peek out from behind the sofa to watch, I was scared but I still wanted to see, lol. Now? I can't even be bothered to record them. I'm sad that they have "killed" Dr Who for me. :(

A lot of longtime fans feel as you do, Megycal. I know I do. Some fans may have enjoyed some Doctors more than others, or debated which was better - Classic Who or New Who. I loved it all, even the spinoffs Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. The magic came to an end after Peter Capaldi's departure. We still have all those wonderful stories and characters to enjoy again. The idiots in charge may well have killed off the future of Doctor Who, but they cannot take away OUR Doctors or his friends or his legacy! OUR Doctors will live on, long after Chibs and his PC puke has long been forgotten. As The 5th Doctor was fond of saying, "Brave heart."

Given the current sad state of the BBC, I agree Shiavui. Unless things change for the better at the BBC, or Doctor Who is liberated from them, the show has no future.

Too busy pandering with things like:

There is no hope for the BBC, let alone Doctor Who. Maybe they'll relinquish rights to it, and someone that cares will take it up. Hah.

I've been watching the old episodes (started at S1) on Netflix recently. They are still enjoyable at least. While S11 and S12 were boring and did nothing for me, it thankfully has not killed my interest in the show as a whole. I can still go back and get enjoyment from the older episodes.

I'm currently on the Tennant era (nearing the end of S2) and it's been a blast even though I've seen it many times.

Lost hype for the current Doctor Who show, but it's still there for the old episodes. That counts for something. Yesterday I watched the two Satan episodes. That was such a great episode. I really like episodes where not even the Doctor knew what the threat was. Even he was baffled. The Satan and Midnight episodes are episodes that do that beautifully.

I doubt I'll re-watch the S11 and 12 episodes when I get to them. I'll just stop after finishing S10.

Real shame we can't have the writing quality of episodes from the earlier seasons in this modern version. It would be such a great show now that it has better on-screen technology.
