Torchwood was pretty good. Everyone had a massive "Doh!" moment when they revealed what the title was an anagram of :P

And yep was a decent cast, but that guy with a face like a frog creeped me out a bit.
The one who was so annoying in Pacific Rim.

You mean Owen? Yeah, he had some creepy scenes, including how he tried to come to terms with having died, only to be brought back to life...sort of. At least he got to go out as a hero. It looked like maybe the show was toying with the idea of pairing up Owen and Tosh...but he got nuked and she was shot, so that ended that possible romance.

I liked the whole cast a lot, even though Gwen could be annoying sometimes. Of the core cast, she and Captain Jack are the only survivors. Maybe Jack could rebuild Torchwood, with or without Gwen. I'd watch...unless His Chibs got his paws on the relaunched version, turning it into another horribly-written woke lecturefest. Something that bad could just be sent straight through the rift.

Speaking of Doctor Woke, I read the other day Season 12 has already lost another one million viewers since "Skyfall", and the season isn't even over yet.

At this rate, the show will not survive to see its 60th anniversary in 2023. There will literally be nobody left watching this lecture series. A sad, disgraceful end for a long-running, much-loved program.

I saw an interview clip recently where Jodie stated the show "isn't for everyone". How inclusive. How wonderfully diverse. Isn't for everyone? That's a bit of an understatement. Doctor Who was a fun show pretty much anyone could enjoy. There was a certain magic about the show. That magic is gone now, having been exterminated by political correctness.

No, I don't need to see that idiotic meme floating around social media again of the 3rd Doctor saying "Hold my beer!" as if it's relevant to anything. Yes, Doctor Who has had stories driven by political issues for a long time, including environmental concerns, taxation, and war, among other topics. There is a big difference between the 3rd Doctor warning Earth scientists to be wary of taking actions which could cause harm to the planet if they are not careful - in stories like Inferno, The Claws Of Axos, and The Green Death - and Doctor Woke breaking the 4th wall to scold viewers for not taking action to "stop climate change". That's comparing a lightning bug to actual lightning. Most normal people would prefer to be entertained, not lectured to. I know I would...but remember, Doctor Woke "isn't for everyone". That's true. That is very, very true. :(

Only hope is for a new showrunner and possibly new doctor to take over. Until that happens, the show won't feel like it used to.

I mean, all seasons have episodes which you may not like or care for, but pretty much every season before S11 has had something most of us can appreciate. It has episodes we want to see again (at least for me).

S11 and 12 though, all forgettable. Doctor never feels like the doctor. It is the first doctor since Eccleston that I just don't really like. She just doesn't have that on-screen presence that can make a bad episode not seem so bad. You don't really care if she's there or not.

With all the other doctors, their on-screen presence was enough for me to just sit back and enjoy the episode even if it may have been poorly written or thought out. I actually never cared about how well done an episode was because the doctor was enough to keep me entertained enough every episode. This has not happened at all since Whitaker took over. It's just empty.

All the showrunners seem to have done is made it look like the switch to a female doctor was a massive mistake. They really tried to make way too many changes way too quickly and it's unfortunately ruined the show.

I think the show runners need to decide exactly what Dr. Who is.

At the moment there are attempts to make it darker, but at the same time they insist on shoving in lame jokes and forced quirky behaviour.

They should go the whole hog and make it a comedy or go the other way and make it into a proper scifi show with a more serious theme and a bigger fx budget.

I've got the most recent Dr Who series recorded but haven't watched many of the episodes yet. I used to look forward to watching the show but now? Not so much. Its not that the Dr is now a woman its the way they've written her character. She annoys me. The storylines over recent years haven't gripped me either.
My favourite Dr Who is Tom Baker. I like many of the earlier Drs but he is #1 for me.
