This series has been generally good. Jodie has really found her feet with the role and the writing has improved, I still dislike all of the companions, bar Graham, although they have had a bit more to actually do recently the three together don't seem to work.
Does Jack Harkness count? I thought he was pretty decent, but yeah, I agree. Amy Pond was okay in parts too. Karen Gillan had a lot of personality, at least.
All other companions have either been dull, awfully written, or pointless. The current companions are definitely the worst ones I can remember.
Oh, absolutely Captain Jack counts as a companion.
He was great on Doctor Who and Torchwood too!
As for the current mess calling itself "Doctor Who", that is not so great. Sorry, but not every female fan of the show is sold on Jodie being The Doctor. To make matters worse, this lot in charge of ruining the franchise is proving they are eager and willing to smash over 50 years of established canon just to try and prop up their failing premise of The Doctor actually normally being female, or originally being female, or having other female regenerations "she" forgot about...it's all rubbish.
As Matt Smith's Doctor was dying, he accounted for all his regenerations. He believed his time was up, as Time Lords (and Time Ladis) can regenerate 12 times over their natural lifespan, for a total of 13 incarnations. Matt's Doctor was considered the 11th Doctor. He was also The War Doctor. This was an incarnation he didn't like to talk about, and didn't count this form as a proper Doctor, yet it still used up a regeneration. Then there was the time The 10th Doctor used a regeneration to heal himself after he was fatally shot by a dalek. He didn't want to change though, so he sent the extra regeneration energy into his handy spare hand. It was only due to the Time Lords sending him a new regeneration cycle that The Doctor was able to go on to become the 12th Doctor.
The show has become disrespectful to longtime fans and to its own history. The ratings indicate this new direction for the program has been a miserable failure. The BBC won't admit this because they'd be in trouble with the PC crowd if they were to fire the first "female Doctor". However, they might have no other option before too long. More and more fans are leaving the show behind, disgusted by what it has become. People want to be entertained, not lectured to.
I've literally lost all interest in this series. I don't think it's ever going to be the same again. Such a shame, it was the only thing on BBC that I ever looked forward to.

I say cancel this show and bring back Torchwood!
Just don't make Captain Jack a woman!
I couldn't agree more, old friend.
Aslon Dak: Still 'Scaping after 19 years!
You can buy XP. You can't buy experience.
"...From The 'Scape" is very nearly here.
