I'd be worried about a drive through vaccination too unless I was sent to a parking area near by to wait for a while.

Plus, how many of these people haven't eaten in hours? These people have been sitting in their cars all night long, waiting in line for it to finally open in the morning. How many of them didn't bring any food? You're not supposed to get a vaccine shot on an empty stomach as it may make you more prone to fainting.
I'm better than you, but that doesn't mean you're not great! :)

Notice how they focus only on the transmission rate, and pay no attention on how the mutations have affected the severity of symptoms?

This strain contains the same mutations found in earlier mutations that were more infectious, but less lethal with milder symptoms.

What's interesting about this strain is that it got somewhere around 20 mutations all at the same time.

Original message details are unavailable.
The B.1.1.7 lineage carries a larger than usual number of virus genetic changes. The accrual of 14 lineage-specific amino acid replacements prior to its detection is, to date, unprecedented in the global virus genomic data for the COVID-19 pandemic. Most branches in the global phylogenetic tree of SARS-CoV-2 show no more than a few mutations and mutations accumulate at a relatively consistent rate over time. Estimates suggest that circulating SARS-CoV-2 lineages accumulate nucleotide mutations at a rate of about 1-2 mutations per month (Duchene et al. 2020).

My letter from the Govt tells me I am "highly clinically vulnerable" so it looks like I'll probably be in Group 4 of the Jabathon. February, maybe.

I'm rather hoping my fairly large GP group practice will receive supplies and I can go there for it especially since there's a new kid on the block now that doesn't have to be transported and stored at minus silly temperatures.

On the other hand we're not exactly being Speedy Gonzalez about this; only about 1.5 million doses in a month when we need to be doing 2 million per week to reach the stated February timeline. So I'm expecting another total balls-up.

Lordy, Lordy I'm fed up with this. I'm again being told to "shield at home" which means I should not leave the house for any reason except to exercise with one other person only and have no visitors at all. Had this for about 6 months early on in 2020, then again in November and again now until .... pick a month.

Anyone need a penpal?

Yeah this "pause" in my state is really getting to me as well. My productivity levels at work (... at my home office) have plummeted in the last month. I'm even being lazy in my personal life. I just am apathetic towards a lot of things, because it just feels like the same day every single day with no end in sight.

Like you said, there are vaccines now and that should inspire hope...but it just doesn't. I get that it doesn't really matter if we are in a lockdown or not as the virus will rage on regardless, but it just is getting to me this time.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

This doesn't surprise me:

CNN: WHO team blocked from entering China to study origins of coronavirus.
https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/05/china/china-blocks-who-team-coronavirus-intl-hnk/index.html

Also why wasn't this virus looked into back when it first started spreading around the world. Why now has the cause got WHO'S interests at heart?? <- this makes me wonder.... I have always felt it was man made...

I know the feeling. I'm very used to working from home, but it does drive you mad after a while. It doesnt help with motivation if the people above you genuinely cant tell if you're working or not.
Then again, with the lockdown thing, 'how do i stay out of the pub' is a problem that solves itself.
