I would suggest the majority of those who are truly exempt would have enough respect that they wouldn't go around potentially spreading the virus. They would do the decent thing and either have their shopping delivered or get somebody else to do it for them. Way too much room for abuse by snowflakes refusing to wear a piece of fabric to protect others, sadly.

"Mr Christie said he hoped his experience would encourage Americans to follow virus guidelines "in public no matter where you are and wear a mask to protect yourself and others"
seems now that theyve had it. they are thinking yes its best to wear a mask when around people.. better late than never i guess?
The area I live in ( in England ) is probably going to go up to tier 2. This means you can't meet others ( max of 6 people ) in indoors. Luckily it won't affect me and hubby too much as we haven't had anyone come into our house since March except for the plumber to service and repair our boiler. Both our sons live over 100 miles away in different directions. They haven't been to visit or stay overnight since the New Year but we now "meet" via Zoom every week. That is more often than we chatted on the phone in normal times.
I do miss the weekly card making classes I used to go to and friends coming over to have lunch and chat while we crafted sitting at my dining table.
UK media suggests we will be getting a firebreak lockdown soon in order to "save Christmas".
Seriously .... I doubt anyone gives a shit by this point. The country is in chaos and the economy in tatters. Hospitals are at breaking point, businesses have gone bankrupt.
So we're having another 'lockdown'. Except we're not really .... because schools and Uni's will still be open, people will be required to go to work, transport systems are running, ports and airports will remain open yahdey-yah.
I really don't see what the Govt hope to achieve by once again closing down hairdressers. pubs, restaurants and some types of shops for a couple of weeks. Possibly a slight drop in infection rates which will inevitably go up again once the pubs and clubs re-open. France seem to be following this (rather pointless, imo) route also.
I'd rather live in "boring" times.
edit. oops, hit enter too soon. I once read that "May you live in interesting times" was used as a sort of curse. It was a long time ago so it may have been in a novel and therefore not true but it does feel like a curse at the moment.

I'm not worried. And will be vaccinated as soon as I possibly can.
Hell, I'd be happy to get re-vaccinated every 3 months if that's what it takes to achieve the seemingly Sisiphyean task of getting some sort of control over the viral spread.
@ Megycal - yes, you're right, which is why I used it. It seemed appropriate
I just hope there's none of that rubbish like supermarkets being banned from selling 'non-essential' (highly subjective) items. As for the half-baked restrictions themselves, they wouldn't be needed if people weren't complacent and the rules were enforced. Too little, too late.
