I have a sense that "science by press release" is a euphemism lol.

Then again, I think you might be being somewhat harsh, Nex.

They cant very well announce that "We haven't a clue so we are just pulling facts out of our ass. And I'm already two bottles of Buckfast to the bad"

Surely you are not mean-spirited and horrid enough to imply that the pharma companies are not 100% altruistic? And come on - you cant make an omelette without breaking eggs!

I meant the politicians more than the pharma companies - there is a reason why they have such a bad rep in some circles.
As a side-note, I recommend "Bad Pharma" by Ben Goldacre. Interesting and well written.
But if you have much experience with medics, it wont tell you anything new.

Whilst they don't do what it says on the tin - at all - that's the nature of much of science these days.

Yes, the allergic reaction is definitely what I am a little afraid of. Well that and the idea that we need to be vaccinated to do xyz.

I literally have a shellfish allergy AND I already can't get another vaccine (pertusis) because of a terrible reaction. I feel like my risk for the shot is higher than just getting the damn virus considering my medical history.

I am REALLY hoping that neither me or my daughter has to be vaccinated. I don't skip put on any of the other vaccinations and my daughter did not have any reaction to the pertussis shot, but it does worry me. And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

If you are healthy with no known underlying Covid problems I don't see why you should have to have the injection. Also there are several different vaccines out there. Plus this is just the early days, we are going to get better vaccines in time I feel.

I think Lord Sumption (has he got a brother called Con?) should, as an old fart, follow his own leanings and isolate somewhere. For the greater good of us all.
