If you want to make a thread about it, feel free to, however, this thread definitely isn't intended to be used to debate how achievements are little more than marketing tools.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known
You've repeatedly brought up profiles as being "marketing gimmicks":

If it wasn't clear, it is about profiles that are little more than
marketing gimmicks
and I have said this many times throughout the thread, lol.

Hmm, this makes it seem like the parent really needs to discuss sunken cost fallacy and
advertisement gimmicks
with their kids.

That said, I suppose I never gave my opinion on the matter. I can't think of a situation that would require me to delete the gaming profile of my kid, however, I also hope to teach my kid that a gaming profile is really little more than a
marketing gimmick
.

This is more about gaming profiles than actual games. I suppose there could be exceptions, but for the most part gaming profiles are little more than
marketing gimmicks
- similar to the real life toys that everyone needs right now, but are totally forgotten about in 6 months.

The thread literally had and has been discussing gaming profiles and the fact that it is a
marketing gimmick
, lol. The OP clearly states it as well as the thread title. Sorry you missed all of that?
You even used it specifically as the reason you deleted 5 profiles:

I just deleted 5 Switch profiles all named "weeeeeeeeeeeeee" with a bowser avatar.
As punishment?
Yeah, actually.
We told her a week ago that if she was going to make extra accounts, we would delete them and explained why in kids terms.

Because "marketing gimmick"?

Yep!
Again, if you want to make a thread, feel free to.
I don't want to engage in a "water is wet" discussion really at all as it is incredibly boring and not at all what the thread was intended for.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

If you feel parents should be deleting gaming profiles because they're "marketing gimmicks" it might help if you explained why they're "marketing gimmicks". How can I understand something from your point of view, if you refuse to explain your point of view?

I don't feel this way at all.

I'm literally looking for other people's opinions in this thread, because other than guiding kids through things like the small dopamine hits of achievements and the world of business, I am not sure.
I think I said it previously but tbh my "feels" have moved a bit away from arguing at this point in time. Take care Nexus. It's been fun.

Right, and when I gave you my opinion, you responded with "marketing gimmick" repeatedly, which is why I'm asking about it being a "marketing gimmick".

Isn't that the whole point of video games? To provide entertainment? That small hit of dopamine?
I'm just trying to understand what the negative impact there is from having multiple profiles, and why you would delete them. Like, the most you've explained so far is "marketing gimmick". You took the time to explain to your daughter "in kids terms", but you won't explain it to me. Help me understand your viewpoint.

Not every discussion has to be an argument. It is possible to simply share opinions and ideas without having an argument. Just because I'm asking questions, doesn't mean I'm arguing... I'm simply inquiring into your thoughts on the matter, and trying to understand things from your point of view.
