I called my mom today to walk her through the process of booking an appointment online and was able to get her in for Thursday at a nearby pharmacy chain.

Competition for appointments in much fiercer in my part of the woods but I was able to schedule an appointment for the Moderna vaccine this Saturday after staying up past midnight constantly refreshing CVS's appointment listings. There is a small chance I'll get turned away for not being visibly 'needy' enough. We shall see.

Had mine early Feb due to age and health. Oxford AZ version. At my GP Surgery.
Sore arm and about 24 hours of slight headache and feverishness.

The Ole Man had his yesterday as we're on the over-55's category now in the UK (mostly).
At one of the big local vaccination Centres.
Same post-jab symptoms as me.

I have to say I am impressed by the speed this rollout has taken place, plus the efficiency of categorising people and contacting them in a timely manner to make bookings.

I am fervently hoping this will offer our population (and my family personally) some measure of protection against catching the virus and /or against severe illness if contracted (it's not claiming to be a 100% barrier to catching the disease of course).

There's been some hoo-ha about the Oxford NZ jab recently but this has been debunked by both the WHO and EMA - although some countries insist it's 'unsafe' and have ceased using it on very minimal, flimsy and unproven "data". Never mind, I'm sure their citizens will be OK with their death tolls continuing to rise and extended lockdowns.

Variants continue to appear - the Philippines being the latest one? - so I'm hopeful the Boffins here carry on their research and we'll go forward with booster jabs to cover these emerging strains (which are pretty much inevitable).

Greetings.

I had mine yesterday.

I had the Oxford-AstraZeneca jab.

Due to past medical conditions they were refusing to give me any jab. It took about 20 mins for me to convince them to give me the jab.

They were very nice about it but felt due to allergies years go and currect medical conditions they felt it was very high risk to give me the jab.

They did ask me if I wanted to take the risk and I just said " Yes " so they got all the emergencey equipment ready and I started to panic lol. Anyway got the jab. Never felt a thing. They stayed with me for a good 20 mins to make sure all was well and it was. I then made my way to my Brothers as he was very close to the center I had the jab. Stayed their a few hours and felt great. Then headed home. I was on my motorbike and felt great.

Today woke up with a slighly sore arm and thats it. On a scale of 1-10 and 10 being a huge pain It's 1. Infact less then 1.

I'm happy to have had the jab and feel better in myself.Looking forward to part 2 in June. ;)

Oh dear. Just watching the News.

Fingers crossed that people who have had their first jab can actually get their second one and that those who have so far had none won't be left waiting too long.

It seems that, despite banning the use of the Oxford AZ in certain countries due to 'safety scares' the same countries are now banning the export of it to the UK. Because they want it for themselves. Even though they won't use it.

Would it be uncharitable of me to think there's a large dollop of jealousy and spite in their decision to withhold something which they themselves refuse to use?

But hey-ho! This could be just the shot in the arm (forgive the pun) the UK Pharma industry needs to get going with building our own production centres. We have the technology (dammit we were hugely instrumental in bringing this particular vaccine into being). We have the manpower. Boris can shelve building a bloody silly huge bridge and spend the £20 billion on building some factories instead. All those new, ongoing, jobs, eh?

And in due course reliably export and deliver legitimate contracts to whoever wants to buy our products. For a profit. Cuz Covid ain't going away.

They're doing us a favour, really.

I agree Fifi. Seems very odd to me too. They kept saying its inferior and ineffective in older people then banned its use in certain age groups. Some people have been refusing to have it if they had chance. Now its not being used because its "not safe". Smh. O_o

As long as other Countries ban Oxford AZ it means more for us. ;)

If I thought it was not safe I would not have had it. It was my first choice of jab too. I only wanted the Oxford AZ and nothing else. I trust it fully.

I just hope in June I can have my jab part 2. :P
