We are having the walls and ceiling of our stairs and landing replastered. Its making quite a bit of mess but it'll be worth it in the end. My husband isn't working today so I'm escaping the chaos for a while by going out to the craft group I helped to start. We meet once a week at a craft shop which has a room we hire for a couple of hours.
Vertigo is unpleasant and can be really nasty if its severe. I had a form of vertigo ( benign paroxysmal positional vertigo ) for 3 months after a head injury. Thank goodness it was cured by having the Epley manoevre. Glad to read that you have recovered.

Yeah, I've tried Epley. That's usually the first thing I go for when I wake up with vertigo. But, this time was a bit different. I just couldn't get it to go. But, then my sister dropped off some Benadryl, told me it might help. And, well, surprisingly enough, it did. It didn't get rid of the vertigo, but I didn't feel like throwing up every few minutes. So, the vertigo was still there, but, I didn't feel horrible the whole time. I just felt off-balance.
I'm pretty sure it was blow to the head decades ago that caused this as well. Apparently there's surgery that can be done to remove the stray calcium crystals, but, you know... surgery... doesn't sound fun. Of course, ask me that when I'm having a vertigo episode and my answer might be different.
Your vertigo sounds a lot more severe than mine was. For me the room would spin whenever I lay down or moved my head quickly or in certain ways. I felt like I might fall backwards if lots of people walked towards me. I agree surgery sounds like a scary way to cure vertigo.
When I had the Epley done it was carried out by an ENT consultant and a nurse in a hospital outpatient department. I was told not to bend very far forward or lie down to sleep for a week. I assume that was so the crystal would settle in its new position. I gathered up all the spare pillows in the house and piled them up on the bed. I told my family I would be grumpy because I wouldn't be able to sleep properly ( I was right, I was grumpy
). The Dr warned me the bppv could come back so I have my fingers crossed that doesn't happen. Its been 16 years now and although I sometimes get a brief swimmy sensation its nothing like it was.

Isn't that the worst? When you're just lying on the couch watching TV and you slightly turn your head to look at something and then it just spins... and then you're flailing your arms to try and keep yourself from falling, even though your body isn't moving at all but your brain is like "no, you're falling in circles! Hold onto something!"... yep. I don't enjoy those moments.
I can just imagine what it must look like to someone else watching it happen... lol
