This is literally why I don't wear makeup like, ever. I don't know what to buy and I can never find out what my shades are lmao
The last time I went to find a finishing powder, I got the assistant in the Revlon section to find the right shade for me. I usually go to a department store called Farmers and they have trained assistants for each makeup brand. Makeup may change from summer to winter if your skin is anything like mine, lighter in the winter and tan in the summer, so you might need different makeup for the two seasons, I don't bother as I can't afford seasonal makeup.
In England, I am sure they have department stores that may offer makeup help??
Around 2015 I had to wear makeup for a course I was doing, and the department store (farmers) did up my whole face up for free, from concealer, contact makeup/foundation, finishing powder, eyebrow powder, blush powder, lipstick and mascara. And when I brought it all, I got such a good deal and lots of freebies
I hardly ever wear makeup these days.

I've just read Fifi's post and yes Boots is awesome, I loved that shop when I was over there
