I feel very strongly about this issue because my sister had to abort her child at 25 weeks because the hospital found out really late that her whole back had not formed and her spine was showing from top to bottom, doctors advised this, my sister did not really want too but she knew that the baby would never have any kind of normal life, nobody can tell me that what my sister done was murder or wrong.

I am sorry to hear about what happened to your sister and her baby, Scouse. That is such a heartbreaking situation, made no better by those who choose to moralise on the decisions she had to take.

Such a deeply personal decision is for parents to make, and be given support whatever they choose.

I guess what about people who snap and shake their babies?

It sounds ridiculous, but I, like many parents, have had to even put my colicky child down in her crib or give her to someone else to take a breather. I've actually done it maybe 5 times, but every single parent that I have talked to thus far has had to do something similar. I can't imagine how single parents cope, tbh.

(I also had post partum anxiety, which certainly didn't help matters)
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

Anything's better than making children live in misery. I offer my condolences, but also commendations to you and your sister for avoiding this; everyone dies, but nobody should have to suffer needlessly.

I've seen and experienced a lot of things, and I can say that suffering just adds to a cycle of sadness that affects everyone in the long term. But there are some sorrows that can be used to make us stronger and better, and some that only hold us back. Always look to the future, it will shine bright.

See, I never know what to say to someone who I know just had an abortion, because you can never tell of the person simply viewed it as a cluster of cells or as a life and it is too uncomfortable to ask how they feel.

I mean, I've had people tell me and I have said sorry only to hear 'oh I'll just make another one, no big deal' which kind of does upset me for the reasons shady suggests, but there are also people who do view it as a child they wanted and it is devastating to them.

And, most of the time, unless you REALLY know the person, you can't tell based on the surrounding circumstances. For instance, I don't know if Scouse's sister viewed it as a devastating loss or not. I assume she did, but I have had people in my life with similar situations that have fallen on both sides.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

It's not that I'm nihilistic or anything on these things, or would literally just straight up say "just have another one". Any life lost at all should be mourned, but the thing is everyone dies and when I go I'd prefer it to be quick and painless, or at least clean and with the pain numbed. Which is what I personally consider mercy killing in general to be. Of course, anguish will set in with the mother unless she is completely empty from the start, and even more so with the stigma attached to such things, but I wouldn't wish any form of suffering on anyone. Especially long-term suffering. Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

I am curious, where does it say that you can or can't abort a fetus?

No idea, I'm afraid, I don't read the Bible in depth.

However, it is not permitted for Catholics to have an abortion (many Southern Irish females come to the UK mainland to get this done as it is forbidden by their faith and they cannot get it done there).

Birth control is not permitted either (except for that good old 'withdrawal' method) and I'm not entirely sure that hardline Catholics even allow that.

As for other religions, idk, never researched it because I think it's an utterly unacceptable stipulation.

Idk I guess I have a hard time with people who put less thought into it than, say, a gall bladder surgery to remove gall stones.

In countries like Mexico and The Philippines, it's expressly forbidden to abort a fetus.
