Shiki has a slow pacing but it really builds up the atmosphere as it moves onto each episode. It's best to marathon it because of the suspense. It was a tad annoying but a worthwhile wait when I was watching it in full, although I had to marathon through the first 13 episodes - I started watching simulcasts then. The last few episodes are the best and in some ways mediocre. There were inconsistencies within the anime but I wouldn't have noticed it if I didn't discuss the series with other anime fans. I would still vote Shiki as one of the best animes of 2010 - if not, probably the best of Summer/Fall 2010. It has been nearly half a year since I've watch it so I plan a rewatch sometime soon.
On the other hand, I'm currently watching Air TV, and have been too lazy to watch any simulcasts. It's going to be annoying focusing on schoolwork and anime when you have so much to do by the end of the year. I have to go get a job too so I can go buy dem anime merchandise I've been longing for. I also need to tell my parents to get me my own Debit card so I can establish my own Anime Membership on several legal anime streaming sites.
Not anime related but does anyone here watch Kamen Rider - the Japanese live action superhero show, not the American versions. I do, and I love it.
EDIT:
@Jesse, Shiki isn't much of a mystery. It's more of a thriller type of anime. Hell, I don't even know the bigger meaning behind the series, but from various discussion, I conclude that it is a discussion of human morality and survival. The mystery is suppose to be "What the hell is happening, what's going on?" and is pretty easy to figure out. That question gets dragged on a bit but in the end, the show seems to mainly be about morality. Who is wrong for killing to survive? Is it wrong for people to kill with certain circumstances? If you look at the ANN Shiki discussion thread, there was a lot of debate going on.
