Today was a bad day for anime. I took a chance on 2 shows that a lot of people wrote off and they had strong/decent runs but then both completely fell apart at the finales.
RokuAka - I said at the start that liking it required you to assume no one had ever researched magic before for the instructor to be considered a genius and his students to be so shocked at the basics of how magic works. Well the end kicked it up another level to the point where my suspension of disbelief could no longer cope with it. The teacher runs away because he would lose the duel, no convoluted reason, just ditches the girl to be married away... and his plan is to... interrupt her wedding and duel the guy. So she basically felt abandoned for a week and suffered so he could do the same thing he bailed out of at a more dramatic moment. Also she's all shocked he kills zombie people and shames him for saving her life, then he agrees with her! And then he does the most logical thing and stops using magic entirely and punches the boss! WUT. Just straight up dumb. Also the bad guy talks about "justice" and gets taken down with THE MOST SUBTLE Crucifixion symbolism I have ever seen. Dropping the score to a 5/10.
SukaSuka - While it still has one episode left they spent this episode setting it up so you can pretty much tell what is going to happen and it didn't do anything for me. It was an interesting take on the mechanics of the world but they just lost me. I would say it was a pixar movie type deal where sad things happen just to make you sad and are forced and just don't mesh with the flow of the story up until now. Dropping the score from 10/10 to 7/10.
