Because this was a special thread and it effects so many people the F-Mod team and CM felt the need for 2 weeks of glue. :D

Now the 2 weeks is up I hope this thread carries on helping each other and the Community. It has helped me overcome this and it's helping me move forward.

Great thread and for me it gets thread of the year. ;)

Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.

It is a slow deterioration of the mind, which actually sounds a lot nicer than what it actually is.

My grandma is still alive, but, she is completely gone. She is kind of just a body that is devoid of all personality at this point. She lost the ability to talk most days and the ability to take care of herself. She isn't bedridden, but she is in bed most days as she is always tired. If she gets up, she usually falls and sometimes hurts herself. She has lost a lot of weight and she didn't have it to lose. They changed her meds which helped with her violent mood swings... but we also can't go see her because of this fucking pandemic.

So yeah, good times. Just like my other grandpa, this is just ending terribly with no hope.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

It really is. I've seen a lot of people struggle with health, and they are all terrible - but Alzheimer's is one of the few where there just isn't hope. The person isn't going to get better, they will just slowly deteriorate until they are bedridden and have to be fed and have their mouths moistened with a wet sponge.

And it is just awful.

I'm not sure how exactly it is caused, but I think if I drink to excess I could get Alzheimer's in the future.

I hope not because my grandmother and grandfather both died with this disease or some type of dementia.
