Happy new year...

It is national nest box week this week so I thought I'd get round to something I've been meaning to do for ages:

Put some sparrow boxes up on an old barn we rent out. at the moment they use all the holes in the stone work but there is only a limited number of sites so there are now 12 more spots if they want to use them which hopefully they will.

Nice time of year you know spring is coming as the birds start nest building and displaying :)

although all this snow and cold is no good!!

EXTRA RATIONS for the birds!

The sparrows are shunning my boxes in favour of the holes in the walls :( although the white doves are happy as they use them as perches :D

Pleasant surprise the past couple of weeks a Barn Owl has taken up residence in a field next to the woods where I walk the dogs. Excellent! Only downside is the road and the potential accident as I've seen it fly across the road a few times

Hopefully the weather starts to pick up now

Wilf...been watching these little guys since they were Eaglet Egg #1/#2.
In February. On a Live WebCam.
They've gotten big so quickly.

The Mama Bald Eagle here is named Starr.
Eaglet #1 is bigger than #2 but, they say both are
eating /eliminating well.

You said the nest is on a live web cam. Is there a link you can share so we can all enjoy this?

That's the trio eagle nest, isn't it? Two males and one female all raising the eaglets. It's really interesting, the female disappeared (was it last year?) and since then, a new female has come. The two males have gone right back to raising the eaglets with the new female.

I've been watching the Southwest Florida eagle cam. It's great because there are multiple cameras around the area as well as photos and videos from people who go to the nest, so you can watch the eagles even when they're not in the nest. The juveniles are expected to leave the nest within the next month or so.

I just found out that a pair of bald eagles is nesting in my city this year, which is really exciting for me because up until a month ago, I'd never seen a bald eagle in person.

Yes Dadz, Evalie has it right.
Dads = Valor I & Valor II

There was a terrible fight last year, with attacks from other Eagles with
their Talons...the mother never surfaced.
