In the dim morning fog & mist the only sound was that of soft cooing. A pair of Mourning Doves appeared shrouded in the fog searching for their morning meal. Took a few pictures that turned out really nice.

Haven't seen the Wild Turkey & her almost fully grown chicks since before the recent Thanksgiving Holiday. Hopefully they have migrated & didn't end up as someones holiday meal.

Hopefully the doves will make it through the hunting season too...

Now that I recall this, back in Canada we used to go on field trips as kids to find & spot birds, name them and estimate the population of it in the area.

The 'Blue Jay' was my first ever find and it was my only one that day, which happened to be a very sad day. :(

An excellent initiative, I wish schools would spend time each week learning about our wildlife.

I'm sure the children would enjoy it as the amount of creatures that would interest them is huge. Getting hands on with it would be more exciting even pond dipping and then going to a stream/river and doing the same thing.

If you went pond dipping and caught a newt or dragonfly nymph you'd be excited.
