I think I saw a bald eagle on my walk today. It was hard to tell because it was flying so high in the sky, but when the light hit it just right, you could see the white head and tail.
It was surprising since they're pretty rare around here.

We have tons of rose ringed parakeets here and seagulls mainly but we get lots of cute little birdies.
Not seen any round here but have seen reports of them in Barnsley area which isn't that far away. Probably a few different types of gull ranging from the Black headed gull to the monster Great Black Backed

Always exciting seeing something unusual and trying to figure out what it is usually happens when I've no binoculars on me.
There have been a lot of skiens of geese flying over on their way to land at the small local farm reservoirs. I love watching them fly in over the trees, honking away to themselves. I just wish they would take a vow of silence once they have landed!
Can't believe I hadn't seen this thread before, I photograph birds (and other animals) in my spare time. Over the summer I've mostly shot kingfishers, as they live quite close to my home.
Here's a young female, looking around for any predators.
This is her last week, landing on a branch.
In the winter I'll probably focus on owls, buzzards, marsh harriers and kestrels. I'm still hoping to get a shot of a hawk to honour my name
