Good luck with the Owls Buzzards :) for the weekend.

With school back and earlier evenings I won't have much time to idle around watching now. Will just have to see what is in the various Carparks as I play at being foodshopper and driving the teenager taxi again.

We did get a pair of Jays in the garden on Sunday - closer this time so I got a slightly better picture. They were pecking around under the seed feeder, getting what the other birds spilled/ejected I guessed. I sprinkled some seeds around the area, laying a Hansel and Gretel trail so they came up closer to the house, which worked eventually :)

Edit
And that showed how bad I am at retaining details of birds!

A mega local rarity was found today: A little Auk. Auks are seabirds so being in South yorkshire was a bit out if its normal range. It was exhausted and taken into care in the evening and is going to be taken over to the coast in the morning.

I wouldn't have been able to see it regardless so ah well. Belive the last one in the area was 40+ years ago. Occasionally other seabird do turn up: Kittiwakes I've seen for instance.

Magpies are nice.

Those seagulls are not seagulls rather a species of gull whether it be:

Common x
Lesser Black Backed x
Great Black Backed x
Black Headed x
Herring x
Yellow Legged x
Iceland
Caspian
Ring Billed
Little x
Glaucous
Mediterranean x

Or Kitt*wake x

These are the most likely to be found I think well only ones I can name off the top of my head at least.

X = ones I've seen.

As I've mentioned previously I'm not good on them as many look similar at different times of the years and at different ages as some have juvenile/ 1st winter/ 1st summer/ 2nd winter/ 2nd summer then adult winter adult summer plumage.

However once you know what to look for to eliminate each one it shouldn't be too hard :P

U mainly only see the real big ones now i think its warmer while the small black headed ones are about.

Also you see a lot more around when it gets really stormy possibly coming inland because i live pretty close to the irish sea.

Edit: I should see the yearly robin soon, it always pops up around xmas time =)
