AlbertaPride and Endgame,
I'm always surprised that some higher level folks want to keep an easier Stealing Creation Game. Getting 20+ points a game, win or lose, is pretty much a given. I would like to get more out of the game than easy points. If its easy points you want just go play non-combat SC.
First of all spells are magic and magic is counted as part of the Combat totals when starting a game. As I have stated numerous times I would like to make the game more challenging for the Combat weighted player by giving everyone some additional tools that the skiller as well as the Combat player can use.
Are you scared of a more difficult game?
So you like Trapping folks in their base. I did too... for about 3 games. Then it got boring as it provided me with very little challenge.
So you spend 10 minutes or so gathering clay, rack up you 20+ points and then deposit everything except your C5 dagger, turn on "keep one item" and head to the enemy base and kill lower level players at will.
And you do this game after game, after game, after game? Really?
And that's fun for you??
And I understand that there are those that really like SC as it is a place where they can kill "noobs" endlessly without having to risk anything. Wow, now that's impressive.
Again, repeatedly killing lower level players doesn't do anything for me.
Is it the easy win that you like? "hey, lets get a good team together and trap the enemy in their base and when they run out of armor and supplies we can repeatedly kill completely unarmed players! Wow!! now that sounds fun!!!"
Not.
So next you'll tell me that there are high level players in the base as well. Yet you yourself just stated "The majority of people get their 20k points before harassing the other team". Very true. That's how the games usually go. All the higher level combat players head to each others base and kill skillers and noobs. Again, I just don't see the challenge there.

I would prefer a more challenging game where the mystic in each base helps defend the base with strong mage and range attacks so if I have the armor, pots, weapons, and food I can actually stand there and give the great fight for a while.
I can try to locate the exit fog and take on whatever level player energizes instead of watching for and chasing down the unarmed noob trying to run from the base.
Yes, the things I am proposing will make the game a bit easier to participate in for the skiller or the new player but for any self respecting, combat loving player, who likes a challenging, balanced battle, this is definitely not easier. Is that you?
I understand we are all entitled to our opinions and you happen to like the easy old noob killing game. I just happened to get bored with that like 800 games ago.

It's normally not about the challenge, or the points, it's about denying the 'enemy' the chance of victory, triumph over man and all that. Beyond that, I actually *don't* spawn trap people, because I know how annoying it can get... But I also understand it's a legitimate tactic, even if it's incredably annoying. Perhaps Jagex should just install a secondary base you can spawn at... Almost always, there isn't enough people to trap two bases.

For a activity that would seem to focus around Crafting, Stealing Creation doesn't really live up to the skill.
I'd suggest that players should be able to fortify their bases and barriers with traps that could damage enemy players/shove them away.
It could give players a reasonable defence against base trapping, and provide another use to Thieving. Players could use Crafting to make their traps around the base and enemy players would need to use their Thieving skills to disarm the traps.
I'd also like to see Stealing Creation points be used for experience in Crafting, because aside from the double experience tools, it seems a little odd that the minigame doesn't offer anything to the Crafting skill.
It could give Crafting a minigame that rewards it, and provide players with a seperate way to train the skill instead of having to buy lots of dragon leather to make into armour, making the skill less buyable.

no offense while yes this "could solve the problem" it doesnt seem likely this will happen, the best way would to eliminate combat all together but still be able to make the armor, weapons and runes, cause it it skilling after all.
also due away with theiving it so nooby for a person to spend all game pick pocketing...

King Wisdom,
Although I'm trying to balance the game a little between combat and skilling, I don't want to reduce the combat whatsoever. The open combat is what makes the game so awesome.
Trapping folks in their base may insure victory (you would think, except both teams are doing it) but it actually reduces the combat in the game as the high level players aren't fighting each other because they are at each others base trapping lower level players.
Thieving is a very important part of the game as mages are very powerful. I think it was ingenious to make folks able to start a pickpocketing attempt from within a fog.
As a mage powerful player myself this can be frustrating but it balances the game giving the skiller a chance to disarm a mage.
I trained thieving to 99 specifically for this reason.

^ As the suggestions I'm making increases the combat in the game your comment confuses me.

So do you like combat or not? If you don't like the combat then there are plenty of Non-combat SC clans you can always join.
If you like the combat, are just you afraid of a tougher fight?
