So basically everyone in the world is frantically hunting for you and the emblem to cash in on the 10m and reap the benefits! (like capture the flag or Clan Wars but your holding onto it for its benefits). I think this provides a very good balance. Of course you are not allowed to leave below wilderness line or the emblem automatically leaves your inventory and respawns somewhere In the wilderness (1/50 locations let’s say), where it will be available for other players to hunt for! However, the emblem will also provide you with some type of skilling boost for the next 3 hours let’s say, so you can choose to reap the PK benefits OR the skilling bonus. The same applies to the emblem when you leave the wilderness to skill, it respawns in wilderness but you retains the 3 hours skilling bonus. This will incentivize even more skillers to try out pking! You are only allowed to be in bank for certain amount of time every hour as well while pking with the emblem.I think there could be a scoreboard for longest time as champion , as well as most champions slain.

I think it would also be a good idea to maybe create 3 separate crowns for each Pking Champions world, levels 1 - 39, 40 - 79, and 80 - 126. Players in lower tier combat brackets can still kill higher tier Champions (not vice versa), doing so will either 2x or 3x the coin drop, and will also give them the higher tier emblem, allowing the higher tier as well as their own tier to hunt for them. This is the only way for a lower tier player to recieve a higher tier “Champions Crown of Bones”. The boost received for wearing a higher tier Champions Crown will have a greater effect as a lower level , giving you somewhat of a better chance against the higher tier pkers coming for your guts!

This could be a mini game but I think the allure of this is thst it is not instanced and at any time p, anyone can hop onto a “Champion Pkers World” and go hunt for the Bone Crown. Certainly there is so much more that can be added but I’ve already ate up 2 hours thinking this up lol. Let me know what you guys think, let me know what you’d change. No Support. The number of Ill intended acts that were shut down by the introduction of optional PvP setting were phenomenal and absolutely worth every minute of work in that update. Having high tier items locked behind PvP only to re-encourage luring and players not even going for the said items but simply after other players items is clearly a bad idea. Everything in RS3 is optional, so do it or don’t do it. But everything is protected by death reclaim…the fact that the risks are far too great and not really a challenge other than avoiding other players trying to steal your prized items…outweighs the benefits.

I personally don’t use wilderness often and when I do…it’s empty, this proves the majority in wilderness pre-update only wanted other players items and not the wilderness content itself. Don’t get me wrong, I completely understand that concept is all about PvP…but the player drop off after EoC were not due to the change of combat, it were so many average players that most of which never bothered with PvP not enjoying the idea of a newer, broader, somewhat manually complex style of play. Many older players preferred simplicity and actually had nothing to do with PvP becoming less popular.

I appreciate the feedback, but I was trying to find some creative suggestions towards my original idea but I can for sure note down some of your ideas that may be nice additions we could add on later today or tomorrow!

That is a very strong opinion on the matter, I disagree as it brought a real world experience to the game as in, you shouldn't trust everyone you meet and you should think before you do something. Not everything is friendly and losing something in a game rather than real life is far more understandable from a learning perspective. Back in the day our items weren't so hard to come by, so dying in the wilderness wasn't so bad, it just comes back to the current Jagex team not supporting the wilderness for what it could've been.


As I stated before, you lose no items from this arena / minigame. You only gain and lose points.

The loss of points and or slow earning of points would be more of the *losing gear and dying* aspect of the wilderness, so it's a type of controllable currency for Jagex as you may.


So yes we can go out with our cool 10billion gold gear setups we get from PVM and not have to worry about losing them.

Was hoping for this to get some traction but for some reason the thread got moved to the 2nd page a few days after I posted it, even though it was the most recent thread.

Seems like a terrible way of keeping new and active threads from being able to be seen.

I wouldn't say it has to return, but it most certainly is a great thing for developers to develop and players to play. It was a huge factor for Jagex when RuneScape was one of the leaders for MMORPG's, and current games on top of the list in terms of player numbers are PVP focused.

Although, I would also say that you are most certainly not wrong....

There hasn't been any PvP for years and the game is surviving perfectly...


RS3 is just here, it's breathing but it's not surviving and it definitely is not thriving.

Counting #'s from a pandemic era has zero logic, we will see the true numbers very soon, and we can currently already see player #'s are pretty much the same as they've always have been, which is low, very low. AND the increase was low as well, especially for a pandemic where everyone was forced to stay inside their house. Jagex also had multiple new rares released in events that encouraged players to multi log, some even playing on 20+ accounts at a time....

So what the player count is low? So what the pandemic didn't boost as much as you think it would have? It's impressive the game has been going on for more than two decades and doesn't seem to end soon.

You just showed that the player count is very stable despite no PvP for more than a decade. Certainly looks like we we don't need it after all!
