What if they got rid of regular vials altogether and made vials only makeable with regular sandstone? And besides that they dissipate when used. Surely they would be expensive then.
With regular sandstone as an ingredient, not the only ingredient.

Stores sell them too, and very cheap.

I doubt prices will rise much if you can get them that cheap...

And why should they change something, that worked perfectly fine for over two decades? Vials never were anything else than some vendor obtained commodity for a few coins. I don't see any value in your idea, only potential for lots of damage... because why not.

Actually, I've still got s suggestion here. How about a smaller flask than the other 2, but holds more than a vial. A flask made with regular sandstone. Consider this, a flask that holds 5 doses. It could be used to top the other flask off since it can hold up to 5 and the least a flask can hold is 1, so these smaller flasks would be able to be used too top off flasks that were down to 1 dose all the way. So they'd have a use, and give sandstone a type of glass it can make rightfully so.

Technically sandstone already is used in the creation of blessed glass for several one-off things, which puts it in a fairly decent spot. I mean it was entirely useless before that, with the exception for a few city quests.

Taking a different idea from OS - you can grind down sandstone to regular sand for the use in glassblowing there.

Perhaps they shouldn't do that.

There are so many items in this game, which we can make with our skills, that are also obtainable en mass by other means, like buying in store for almost nothing, or getting loads of noted items as drops, like logs, herbs, fish etc. You can even get all the vials you want for free at a portable well.

That is wrong in my opinion, because it makes our skills less useful. Who would ever make vials with their crafting skill when we can just buy thousands in a store for almost nothing? Why do we even have the option of crafting them ourselves? It is useless. How about making it not useless?
