SLR, in case you hadn't noticed I don't hold a very strong opinion on Alt1.

Is it a benefit to those that use it? Yes of course. I sometimes use it to aid quickness of co-ordinate clues, and sometimes lock boxes. Both of them can be aided on other sites albeit not so quick. I never use the puzzle solver as I find them very quick to do myself without getting confused trying to follow the squares they highlight. Even with choosing the speed.

I know you aren't bothered by other sites than can do way more than Alt1, which is why I cannot take seriously your worries over this site, and 1 aspect in particular.

How would this not benefit OP?

If OP wants to get the most info possible, reddit is the place to do it.

Maybe I am incorrect, but I think a place with a wider audience will have a much larger amount of people for Alt1 than against..... as I have said, maybe I'm wrong in this assumption. Remember Caz. Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Why should OP only be looking for ppl who are for this?

I thought the whole point of this thread was to get an idea on if it should/shouldnt get banned?

Since thats the case, having ppl chime in who are against this as well is needed.

Regarding the comparison to the recent events in Old School (High Definition add-on), Jagex saw how popular that add-on was and proposed to create their own, in-house version. Eventually, they gave official permission that the HD add-on is safe to use. This was after banning it outright.

If Jagex were put in the same position regarding Alt1 and the clue solver, perhaps they may then make it an official add-on and/or implement their own system which does the same job. This way forward should make most players happy.

I still believe that using this Alt1 add-on is cheating, but only because it's not freely and safely accessible to all. Making it official and/or creating an in-house version would change this.

Yet its been said throughout this thread and OPs previous that everyone can DL just fine and just because some choose not to doesnt mean it is.

@ Tenibri - A reddit poll (external source) VS runescape forums (an internal source), I wonder how that'd turn out. I thought one of the points raised here was that Alt1 is not advertised anywhere else in-game or on the website. That's gotta be factored in. As well as the anonymity of Reddit. It could be interesting though! to see how many downvotes I can get on there. I can see it now - a bunch of 'no / nope / who cares / clues suck' comments.

I personally don't care if people riot (when they are in support of systems that degrade the game). The HD graphics thing is something entirely different (as Tenibri pointed out). I imagine people chose to riot when they banned dice-games, but it didn't matter because Jagex knew it wasn't good for the game. Eventually they'll need to decide whether Alt1's clue-solver is.

PS: I think way more people use Alt1 and support it than have commented here.

If they offered their own version, it'd have to be free (like Alt1) and do everything that Alt1 does (or more). The clue-solver is a 'legal cheat' essentially, and unfortunately there is not a whole lot they can do to create an alternative, when the program does so much for you. It leaves no room to expand. Alt1 does everything for you (besides the clicking) so Jagex can't really bring out anything to trump it, without adding an auto-clicker. There is already a solution in-game: 'puzzle skip tickets' which cost 1.4m (a fair price that reflects the rewards you can get). To me the solution is clear: they ask Alt1 to remove the clue solver feature, or publicly approve of it and accept RS3 will be an easier game as a result of everyone using it. Bob says:

Yet thats pretty much what you're getting here but just from the opposite side.

I mean having just "yes men" comments doesnt make it truly "valid".

Plus what does it not being advertised have to do with anything?
