I must say I am quite impressed - music in gaming has finally come to what I had hoped for years ago when I started playing Runescape. What's than been, 8 years now?
I have found that when young people are exposed to good variations in music they learn to appreciate music much more. By variations, I mean music beyond the scope of their peers, the pop music at the time.
Before I started playing RS, I had a privilege of touring your competitors in Irvine, behind the scenes, including their music studio and meeting their composers at the time. We had pictures with staff people, the full scale artists figures from the game, and met staff whose voices were used in that game. In spite of all that, I ended up choosing to play Runescape instead.
About the time I started playing RS, I owned a record label and produced fully orchestrated music for dancing, and was featured as a guest artist on two other record labels. I also was commissioned by a dance club at MIT in Boston to produce a dance piece that was a medley of songs that included the music from "Modern Major General" but with the lyrics to the periodic table - it was a blast!
Though my life has taken me in a different direction the last decade and a half, I do hope to get back to composing for full orchestra again. I have a friend down the street that gets commissioned to compose for orchestras all over the world, and although she's good, she doesn't inspire me as much as you have with this soundtrack!
So, my comments on the quality are not shallow in the least. As an experienced and published fellow composer, my hat is off to you and your staff! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making the game that much more pleasurable! And I thank you especially for inspiring me to return to my love of composing!
