@Raphtalia6 makes a great point around having a central place to reference or visit. Could make F-Mod life a bit easier when pointing people to the Chat Lounge thread for chit chat/ general discussion.

Never liked chat lounges being qualified for sticky automatically, didn't see practical outside really really popular ones (they'd run through the post limit to quick) but that didnt stop it in the past.
That said, just looking at the ID Forums I don't think a sticky would matter to this thread since its active enough to stay on page 1 almost indefinitely, probably wouldn't even drop to half way down the page and the sticky adhesive wouldn't actually do much to change this thread.
I think the idea is to continue the momentum and support the posting activity here - sticky glue unquestionably helps, even if not significantly. Tuffty's comment (pasted below) seems to suggest to be a sticky, it should be an active thread. So the high level of activity should support the sticky rationale.
It also took 28 days for this thread to first be stickied, so this isn’t one of the automatic ones.
