, you have told me privately that my only option is to make a forum thread about moderation changes, and hope that Jagex sees it and decides to implement it. Could you also do the same? You definitely have a closer connection to Jagex than any of us do. If you care about manipulation and the longevity of the forums I hope you've been reaching out to them and raising the issue like the rest of us have.

The Team have been discussing manipulating with Jagex and chat often about it. You have to understand unless it stands out as in context is there to prove manipulating the team can't remove posts these days. Yes few years ago a simple hint at manipulating could be hidden. Todays rules and guidelines let us be a referee so to speak. We are here to keep the peace. Were not here to cover people with cotton wool hoping they don't get scammed or ripped off.

Posts people claim are manipulating are hard to prove for the team and as such sadly if they comply with the Forum Rules then they have to stay. If we remove them they can goto Review and have the hide over turned. So no point in removing them unless and I mean unless it stands out so much anyone can see it then it can be hid.

I would love to do more I really would. I'm also sure some of the team would love to do more too. It just can't be done as I say were here to keep the peace. It's all down to the Community as a whole to make sure you get the best deal for you and not scammed or ripped off.

I like this thread so much as it brings things out in the Community it brings out the best of them for ideas and suggestions. I fully supported this thread for the start and still fully support it.

PS. The above statement is my own words and not speaking on behalf of Jagex or the F-Mod team. Just making sure you know that. I don't make the rules I just follow them. :P

We appreciate all that you and other fmods do Tuffty.

It's a very thankless responsibility, being a pmod/fmod in present day RS. I hope that will change, along with all the other things that plague our community and game at the moment.

I mean, the real problem here is the broken GE price update formula (prices unable to move at all unless they reach a certain threshold of trade volume) leaving low volume items in completely unknown price territory and creating insane volatility and ripeness for manipulation due to dependency on word of mouth and self-reports.

Well, it's two-pronged a) is the above mentioned and b) is all the obvious issues with items over max cash. Either way, both are cases where items are essentially beyond the GE and that puts it on the shoulders of players to determine a street price -> where players determine prices players will also manipulate prices, it's inevitable.

Runescape doesn’t provide market depth with pricing aka level 2 for low liquidity traded items. Neither a receipt system was implemented. That’s why they require manual handling of price checking threads.

It’s their fault for not implementing any of those that lead to wide margins, unfair trades, possible price manipulation. Then again fmods are free, unpaid volunteers. It’s probably easier to have them run the forums than to implement any improvement modules.
We are selling to willing buyers at the current fair market price so that we may survive.
My loss is your gain.

It'd be nice if dates were added to ge transactions.

But all of these comments really in this thread are suggestions. I dunno that it's worth Jagex's time to add more to the GE nor to expand max cash. I hope they do though :)

adding atleast the time stamp idea that people can see when and at what time you purchased x items would already be a big step towards a better place i believe. it would make confirming a trade through the ge much more simple. but i understand that its hard to implement such a feature. trusting certain pc lists or prices of items or websites that dont belong to jagex will get you into trouble notice: external websites and trades are your responsibility, dont get fooled!.

Receipt with timestamp is easy. Just show a hash or unique identifier of the receipt in Ge logs. Then others can confirm via a web api with the hash/identifier as query param. Then receipts are only accessible for a week before deletion due to space and lookup complexity constraints.

No screenshots are even required. And the api could be just plaintext. It’s just a matter of implementing improvements or use the free unpaid volunteers.

Yeah, a timestamp within same trade window shouldn't be that hard to implement.
GE should have unique trade IDs anyways, that could be looked on the GE page on main website to identify if the sale/purchase was real or not and the parties involved.
